Hi everyone sorry to add to this late but I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app many times in my phone and I’m still getting playback errors. I fixed my emby connect log in error by not allowing the app to connect to other devices on my network. Unfortunately when trying to watch videos I get a “no compatible streams” error. I’m on the latest IOS for iPhone and emby 2.2.21. Any insight? Never had any issues with emby on iPhone before but this definitely started with the most recent update.

Spoiler

@Luke sorry to revive the post but any insight on the issue posted above?

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

@Luke Sorry for the late reply! I've attached my logs here and the user is SMTV91 (my admin account). The log attached here I tried watching a show "Lark Rise to Candleford" at on June 1, 2024 8:42AM so the log would show a recent error (hopefully makes it easier to find).  The ffmpeg log was last generated May 31 and I attached as well. Server version is 4.8.8.0, emby ios app version is 2.2.21, and ios version is the latest: 17.5.1. Error message the pops up is: "Playback Error: No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. " All of my other users are fine including my account (SMTV91) on other devices (samsung tv, firestick and ipad) it's just my admin account (SMTV91) only on my iphone (15) that has issues. Thanks so much for looking into it and I think I included everything needed for the error report.

@Lukejust looping back on this? The issue seems to have spread to my iPad now as I can’t get Emby to open either of them. Confirmed the server is working and online.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to update you all on a recurring issue with the Emby app following the latest update to version 2.2.28. Unfortunately, it seems we're experiencing the same crashing problems that we had before. Just as before, the app won't launch properly; the logo flashes briefly and then the app closes, similar to what happened after the previous update before it was fixed.

This issue started right after updating to Emby version 2.2.28, a few days ago. It's frustrating to see this problem return, especially after it seemed to have been resolved.

Has anyone else experienced this with the latest update? Any tips or insights on this would be greatly appreciated. I’m hoping the developers can look into this once more and provide us with another fix soon.

Device: iPad Air (~2013)
iOS Version: 12.5.7 (same as before)
Emby App Version: 2.2.28

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

Yeah some of my users have just given up on the app and just use the browser. One created a new emby account and everything worked for about two weeks before the same issues returned with this version.

Hi, we did find something, so we are working on getting a 2.2.29 update out to resolve this. Thanks.

Hi, please try Emby for iOS 2.2.30 and let us know how things compare. Thanks !

Hi Luke, JSYK, the Apple App Store still has the older 2.2.29 from about 22 hours ago.

What version number do you see inside the app?

We can't get inside the app because it still crashes after updating to 2.22.29 (as indicated in the App Version History).

hey Just4Jo,

Apple still say 2.2.29 but the app version is 2.2.30 in the app settings.

I had a long waiting screen to connect to my server but right after it's working smooth.

Same crash is still happening to me; iPad Air 1st-gen, iOS 12.5.7, completely uninstalled and reinstalled the app on v2.22.29 (app store isn't showing 2.22.30 which Luke referred to) to be sure. The screen goes black with the Emby logo, then half a second later crashes back to the desktop like it was never launched.

I wish I'd never updated the app, as it was working fine until I updated it to 2.2.28, and it's been unusable since. In-browser playback doesn't work, no matter the video format; I just get the endless blue loading circle. I was just about to get a Premiere subscription, on top of buying the app, to stream while travelling; looks like I'll be switching back to Plex if this keeps up much longer.

Same issue as Validore, mine is still crashing on launch too. App store only has 2.2.29 from 4 days ago, but I can't get inside the app to tell if it's the same in there.

Confirmed the same as @SouravJ; iOS 12.5.7, Emby version 2.3.31 has an instant crash on startup while iOS 15.8.2/Emby app 2.2.30 works without issue.
