4k HEVC Green/Pink hue

Hi guys,

I have already read a couple of threads related to a similar issue and wanted to get some general guidelines. If the video profile is as follows:

Title: 4K Dolby Vision HEVC
Codec: HEVC
Dolby Profile: Profile 5.0
Profile: Main 10
Level: 150
Resolution: 3840x2160
Aspect Ratio: 16:9
Interlaced: No
Framerate: 23.976
Bitrate: 17 mbps
Video Range: Dolby Vision
Bit Depth: 10 bit

Then the video is not loading properly in the Web version and the Android app. There is a pink/green hue. I read that it's related to the Dolby version. I have a dedicated GPU for transcoding. If the video type is 4K HDR 10 HEVC, then it's loading fine.

So, while downloading, should I not download the Dolby version? I also realized Luke is gathering some logs, etc. Does this mean it will be resolved from the app itself, or do I need to do anything?

Emby only supports transcoding/tonemapping with an HDR10 layer - thus you need Dolby Vision Profile 8 or Profile 7.  Profile 5 is not supported for Transcoding at this time (as it has no HDR10 layer) - but will Direct Play perfectly fine assuming your device supports DV.

Thank you for the reply. So I unticked "Allow video transcoding" under user settings and I was getting a playback error -

No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details.

When I enable it's not transcoding properly because of the Profile 5 issue you mentioned. In that case if I'm only using web and android app for now, should I avoid downloading any DV videos? or will it be resolved in future releases?

You can try using Emby Theater instead of web, the mpv player might be able to handle the tone mapping. As for the android player that just comes down to if your device supports DV or not. Personally I prefer DV to HDR on my TV but I go for the files that have both layers available for compatibility.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
