Issues with very few or no images being downloaded

I just had to do an unexpected reinstallation of my server and when I setup the library locations and it scanned the files, most of my shows and movies do not have images.  Some have the primary image but nothing else, even the cast & crew images are not being loaded.  If I look at the Metadata for each show, it has the IMDb Id but nothing for MovieDb, TheTVDB or Zap2It.  Even if I find the show at those sites and add in their ID's manually, nothing gets added after refresh Metadata using "replace all metadata" and select the "replace existing images" option.  Two examples of this is Yellowstone where I only get the "Primary" image and another is 1883 (the Yellowstone spin-off) where I don't get any images.  I am running version 4.8.7.0 and it says it is up to date.

Also, prior to my reinstallation, all of these images were there.

Can anyone help me fix this issue?

Thanks,

Chuck

Sorry to see you are having the same issue but glad I am not the only one seeing the issue.  Maybe more can reply to this and get the attention of developers.

My first guess is that you have a non-recommended file layout/naming scheme which used to work, but has now failed after a change to support something else.

But if you show us your file structure/naming we can see if I'm wrong...

All of my TV shows are located in the folders listed and structure follows after the "TV Shows" folder: S:\Data\Media\Videos\TV Shows\1883\Season 1\1883_S01E01_1883.mp4

Thanks for any help!

Is that the only show that this happened with?

Do all of the episodes show up in Emby server?

Would need to see server log for a refresh of a specific example or when it the shows where first added to library.

But will guess quering provider metadata failed.

What is your library provider settings for metadata and images?

Luke,

No, this is happening on every show and movie.  Some shows or movies are getting the "Primary" image but most don't get that either.  Also, all the episodes are there from the few I checked.

Where do I go to see my "library provider settings for metadata and images"?

Thanks to both of you for following up!

Where you configured/setup the library.

Hi @Crarbo1yes, what metadata fetchers are enabled on the library, and in what order?

Happy2Play and Luke,

I just used the defaults during install and I don't remember it asking for metadata fetchers.  Where in the server settings to I find that setting.  I am not familiar with it.

Thanks,

Chuck

App-settings/manage server-Library-edit the library you created.

Happy2Play,

Thanks for the quick response.  I didn't think to look there.  I figured there would be a general setup for the library that would cover all libraries that would be added in the future.  I guess it does make sense to have it on a individual basis though.  I don't remember having to set this up during install, but maybe I overlooked it.  Either way, her is my info:

For my Movies library:

  • Metadata Readers:
    • Nfo-unchecked
  • Movie Metadata Downloaders:
    • TheMovieDb-unchecked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
    • The TVDB-unchecked
  • Metadata Savers:
    • Nfo-unchecked
  • Movie Image Fetchers:
    • TheMovieDb-unchecked
    • TheTVDB-unchecked
    • FanArt-unchecked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
    • Image Capture-unchecked

For my TV Shows library:

  • Metadata Readers:
    • Nfo-checked
  • Series Metadata Downloaders:
    • The TVDB-unchecked
    • TheMovieDb-unchecked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
  • Season Metadata Downloaders:
    • TheMovieDb-checked
  • Episode Metadata Downloaders:
    • The TVDB-unchecked
    • TheMovieDb-checked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
  • Metadata Savers:
    • Nfo-unchecked
  • Series Image Fetchers:
    • TheTVDB-unchecked
    • FanArt-unchecked
    • TheMovieDb-checked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
  • Season Image Fetchers:
    • TheTVDB-unchecked
    • FanArt-checked
    • TheMovieDb-checked
  • Episode Image Fetchers:
    • TheTVDB-unchecked
    • TheMovieDb-checked
    • The Open Movie Database-checked
    • Image Capture-unchecked

So, I'm not sure why they are set this way but I am sure this is my issue.  My only problem is I don't know what to use or in what order to use for each setting.  Any idea's?

Thanks,

Chuck

Per just this alone you are limiting yourself so you will not get any info from TMDB or TVDB.  As for images you will not have ids to get images so again limited per actual known metadata.

Since this is not a default configuration I can only guess you disable default options.

In general you want at minimum TMDB then alternate TVDB/OMDB for Movies.

Ideally for Shows/Series you want TVDB then TMDB and I don't bother with OMDB but that is personal preference.

Images per library usually for movies I have FanArt then TMDB/TVDB and Shows/Series FanArt then TVDB/TMDB.

But everyone has their own preferences.  So you need to reevaluate your library settings.

This is all guess work with the info provided without logs showing exactly what was queried and from where.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I don't remember disabling those but either way, I will adjust my settings per your suggestions.  I'm confident that this will resolve my issue.

Thanks again for all the help!

Then I would do a Refresh-Search for missing again entire libraries.  But you can test on a single movie/series.

I checked like you suggested and it worked as I would expected, so I am now refreshing everything now.

Thanks again!

Just a FYI my problem was fixed by Enable reading and writing of person metadata files under Library and advance settings. :)
