Emby and nordvpn

Hi,

I have been trying to create an emby server from which I will view livetv. I have got this setup and working but when I connect to nordvpn on my emby I can no longer access my live tv streams as it seems DNS cannot be resolved for the m3u links. I have mapped an IP to a domain name in etc/hosts and this will allow me to access a couple of streams but still has issues accessing most. I was wondering if I create a new VM in proxmox to act as a vpn gateway if this would be a sensible thing to do and stop my issues with DNS?

Just saw this thread,

Not sure if I can help or not.  My set up has NO access to my Emby from outside except via my inward VPN.

Outside in, I have a Wireguard VPN docker container set up on a Pi3B, it is the only port forwarding I allow on my network.  From my cell Emby client, I enable my cell's Wireguard client, and the connect by IP to my Emby.  

From inside out, I have a docker set up, I use a Gluetun docker container to connect to Nord, using

cap_add:
      - NET_ADMIN
network_mode: host

Then my Emby docker container uses the Gluetun container's network using:

network_mode: "service:gluetun"

On the same machine I have Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett docker containers that do not use the VPN, and qBittorrrent docker container set up to use a socks5 connection to Nord in its configuration.

For EPG, I use a mix, for my OTA channels off my HDHomerun connected to my antenna array I use Emby's EPG service by postal code, then paired.  For my streamed channels I use EPG.best, I think I pay $10USD a year. 

So..

• Client local connections via local network.
• Client remote connections via self hosted Wireguard VPN.
• Emby connections to OTA channels local network.
• Emby connections to streaming channels Wherever They Come From (tm) via Nord.
• Emby connections to EPG listings (Emby or EPG.best) via Nord.
• Jackett, Sonarr, Radarr connections to indexes, searches via clear Internet
• qBittrorrent connections to Wherever It Finds Stuff (tm), via Socks5 connection to Nord.
