jriker1 20 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Let me start with an example. I have a bunch of Star Wars movies that are starting to get as complicated as Marvel. Well not really but they are diverging all over. So am creating a collection of my own that lists ALL star wars movies in chronological order. I historically use the Sort Title to get them to sort right in the collection but problem is say Rogue One. If I make that like a sort order label of Star Wars 05 as it's technically the 5th movie in order chronologically. However now it will sort under "S" in the Movies area due to that sort order flag. Adding it to a custom collection doesn't allow me to custom sort just that collection. Understand that could get complicated but thought I'd check if I'm missing anything. 1

jriker1 20 Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 Thanks let me ask a different "related" question. I created a new Collection called Star Wars Chronological Named each of the Sort Title values as Star Trek 01, Star Trek 02, Star Trek 03... Then set the collection to sort by "Title". which can be confusing as you have the Title, Original Title, and Sort Title but when you sort by "Title" apparently sorting by "Sort Title" not "Title". Anyway, When I click on this collection thru the web interface shows as I would expect and uses the Sort Title. When I do the same thing thru the Android TV app it sorts by release date. So sorting by Star Wars (1979), Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983)... I have to click the All items button and then it sorts by the Sort Title. Never even clicked on the All Items view before and don't recall having to.

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
visproduction 315 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 JR, EMBY Web Be aware for Emby web, sort preferences depend on the username, the login address (local or remote) and the hardware. Every change, resets sorting to default. It looks like everything starts sorting by title. So, if you set a sort preference, you will probably notice that the preference changes back to the starting sort, whenever you log in as a different user, from different hardware or using remote after setting the sorts up first with a local login. It makes sense that each user can sort the way they want, but having all sorts reset when a user switches from mobile to tablet, to notebook to workstation, local or remote IP, is not very user friendly. Also, it would be nice if the sorts were recorded in a user setup style from admin control. That does not happen. You can duplicate a profile, but the sort preferences are lost. I thought I would mention these issue, since you are trying to organize your sorts. It makes Emby Web sorts appear to be broken, but mostly it is because you change the user's access and that resets the sorts. Hope that makes sense.
