StefanKlein 3 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Can I cast from Android phone to Fire Cube 3 ? When I use Emby on my Android phone, several devices are shown, to which I can cast. But not my Fire Cube 3. Is this actually possible?
Luke 42077 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 HI, have you installed the Emby app on your Fire Cube?
StefanKlein 3 Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 No. But why should In need it? There´s also no Emby app on my two Oppos and my Marantz Cinema, but I can cast to them from my Android phone. My understanding is that I only need the Emby app on the Fire cube, if I want to start and use it from the Cube. But in this case I always need my TV, even if I only want to listen to music. That´s why I would like to cast it from my phone. Just the way it works with my Oppos. Since I have the Oppos, I actually don´t need the Cube. I just want to try, wether this would work.
Lessaj 467 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 (edited) It does not support casting, so the app would be required. Quote What’s more of a letdown, however, is that the Fire TV Cube (3rd gen) doesn’t offer support for either Google Cast or Apple AirPlay. It does support the sideloading of Android apps if you’re prepared to jump through some hoops, but the two most popular methods of beaming content directly from your phone are not available with Amazon’s most expensive streamer. It does support Miracast and Intel’s Wireless Display (“WiDi”) casting, but those are far less ubiquitous. https://www.androidauthority.com/amazon-fire-tv-cube-3rd-gen-review-3243902/ Edited May 19, 2024 by Lessaj 1
