BrandonYoung 12 Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 After recording a Live TV show, I convert the show using the custom profile using the following settings Container: "mkv" Video codec: "hevc,h264" Audio codec "aac" Quality: "Original quality" the resulting file is missing the subtitles. However, when using the "TV" profile, the resulting file preserves the closed caption subtitles. I think the Custom profile should preserve the closed caption subtitles. Before custom convert After custom conversion Before TV convert After TV Profile conversion Here is the log file for the Custom transcode ffmpeg-remux-ebd1c42a-f8a3-435b-ad22-a431ba1283ec_1.txt Here is the log for the TV profile transcode ffmpeg-transcode-319fbb3d-e0e9-408c-9659-ed00f2da52e3_1.txt The conversions happened after 6:30 when the news programs ended.
Luke 42080 Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 HI, as a test, do you have an h264 source with closed captions that you can test to compare with? I have a feeling that this is isolated to hevc. Thanks.
BrandonYoung 12 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Here is another recording on the same hevc channel, I converted using the TV preset, and it converted to h.264 and aac, and kept the closed captions. Here is the log for the HEVC TV profile transcode: ffmpeg-transcode-ec32a3b3-814e-428b-b0da-d90a8bada96b_1.txt I only have a couple of channels with h.264. The custom conversion of H.264 to H.264 worked and subtitles were preserved. Log for the H.264 to H.264 custom conversion ffmpeg-remux-ebd95160-e16b-418e-a1dc-7a706defe444_1.txt
Luke 42080 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 OK so that confirms it. We'll look into it. Thanks.
