Forever loading after selecting server

I'm running into a problem across 2 tvs. With 1 tv being an actual Roku TV, the other being a roku express. Whenever I select my server it just sticks on this page (pic attached) and will not go past it. It works perfectly fine on my LG tv and my mom's Samsung tv but just not the Roku.

Have you done a full reboot of all the hardware involved? That is server, clients and router and anything else that sits between the Rokus and the server. I have had failed attempts to connect caused by just about everything in the chain.

Also you could have something else creating wireless interference if your clients are wireless or placing noise on your network if they are wired.

Everything's been rebooted. There wouldn't be any interference really (at least with the roku tv) as it sits directly beside the modem/router, and the server is on a switch further away

I stop waiting after 10 minutes

You may need to delete all the Emby apps from your Roku. Once they are all deleted restart the Roku. Once the Roku is restarted it will clear the cache of whatever Emby was storing on the Roku. Now reinstall the Emby app on the Roku. It should work after this since it has a completely clear cache.

Would I have an actual cache? The server was made about 3 days ago and I kept it off till my switch came in, got the switch hooked up (its an unmanaged gigabit switch), downloaded the app and it gets stuck there after selecting the server

Did you ever restart those Roku after adding in the switch? Restart is in the menu, or you can be rude and remove its power cord and wait 10 seconds plug it back in. Either way.

Where those Roku used and worked on Emby before adding the switch? I am asking because anything beyond/behind the switch might have had to get a new IP address. Even your Emby server may have a new IP address if you restart the router and it remains OFF for long enough.

Those Rokus have never been used for emby before. I would also like to add that it didn't work when I was on wifi either but I thought that could potentially be fluctuating speeds

It also just dawned on me to mention. I have a router modem combo that my isp gave us when we got their service, I have another router connected to it to help separate the traffick a bit. The server is on the 2nd router while the tvs are on the isp modem/router.

You need to work out which device is providing DHCP addresses; make sure DHCP is only enabled in one (and ensure that both are in the same subnet).

But really, unless you have a strong reason which you understand, you should not be using two routers; it sounds as if you are doing it on a whim, which is a really bad idea.  Stick with just the service device, and things may simply fall into place.

I'll see if sticking it on 1 router works, but I have the other set up to act more as a switch. It was one I bought when the og router from my old isp died

Putting it on the same router worked

Thanks for the update. We are looking into the original issue of the loading spinner getting stuck so that we can prevent that from occurring. Thanks.

I'm glad to see it worked.

A router and a switch are quite fundamentally different; you can't just use one as the other (as you have seen!)...

@MeHoyMcCoyDepending on the router you purchased, it may have a configuration option that will allow you to safely use it as just a switch/wireless AP, so look up the documentation for it online.  Worth checking before you spend any money.
