pgriffith 88 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Hi all Bear with me here. I run my own Emby installation, all is good with that. My elderly parents also have an Emby setup and I'm synchronizing my media libraries to them using Syncthing (brilliant piece of software) which is working well. What I would like to know is there an easy way to prevent their Emby install from downloading, modifying or adding any metadata to the media I send here. All I want their end to do is detect newly added media and add it to their library. I store all the artwork within the media folders along with NFO, so nothing needs to be fetched their end. Sometimes while I'm transferring media, their install grabs artwork or creates an NFO while it's still transferring, requiring me to override changes from my end, which is just a simple mouse click but I'd like to prevent it all the same. Do I just untick basically everything in the Libray settings or is there an easier way?
Lessaj 467 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Sorry are you sending media to their server and they play it back from their server as well? Their instance would likely still need to fetch some metadata to identify it during import, but you could set it to be NFO read only. Are you curating the metadata in the NFOs and just want emby to read it?
pgriffith 88 Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 Yes, they are playing it back or course. I just want Emby to read the NFO in the media folder and import it to their library without fetching anything, there's nothing Emby requires outside what I'm sending it.
Lessaj 467 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 You can disable NFO writer but I'm not really clear on the benefit here, if it's freshly added to your server give or take a few hours their instance would just pull the same metadata anyway. Unless as I mentioned you're curating that metadata first.

Now the issue becomes Realtime Monitoring vs library scan for their server to import the new media. RTM may see the media before it is completely uploaded but at the same time should see the final change to media when it is.
