CraigP 0 Posted May 15, 2024 Posted May 15, 2024 Some HEVC videos are playing around 2fps for me. Not all but some. The only difference I can see in "stats for nerds" that the renderers are different. The HEVC that plays just fine uses "MediaCodec", where as the 2fps video is using ffmpeg. So I assume hardware vs software decoding. Audio is fine, and Not sure why Emby for Android (3.3.91) is using different renderers in each case, perhaps the extra DV layer (though in theory the device is just fine with DV). I'm totally happy to only get HDR10 to make this playable. Curiously the older Android TV app plays the video just fine, as does Plex on the same hardware. Hardware is an Android box (S928X based - Ugoos AM8 Pro).
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi, yes we are looking into the HDR fallback for when DV isn't supported. Thanks for reporting.
Luke 42077 Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Hi, please try 3.4.88+ and let us know how things compare: We've added automatic fallbacks directly into the player. No server transcoding or operations required. Please try it out and report your experience. Thanks !
