Dragon777 2 Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I use BubbleUPnP together with Emby server for more than 10 years now and it has always been flawless. But lately, I am running into problems with displaying folder art which I cannot figure out how to solve. I am running an Emby server on a QNAP NAS (version 4.8.6.0 - issue was there with 4.8.3.0 as well and update did not fix it). I only ever access the library through folder view as I have meticulously sorted all my music in folders. The folder strucure is as follows: Artist 1 > Album 1 Artist 1 > Album 2 Artist 1 > Album 3 So there is one folder for each artist and this folder contains many subfolders for each album of this artist. Each album folder holds a cover art picture called folder.jpg and all music files also have album art embedded in them (I use 100% FLAC files). In the past, when browsing the folder view on artist level, BubbleUPnP always showed me a cover art picture for each artist. I think it showed the album art of the alphabetically first album folder in the artist folder. Emby interface is handling this exactly the same. But lately, when new artists are added, BubbleUPnP only shows fallback images for these artists in the folder view on artist level. If I browse the library in Emby, everything is still as expected and the cover art of the first album is shown on artist folder level for the artist folder. But BubbleUPnP is only doing this for the older artists, but not anymore for the newser ones added. Here is an example screenshot from my current Emby server view: As you can see, there is an album cover art shown for the artist folder of Jon Bellion. In the artist folder there are 4 album folders and the artist level view has shown the cover art of the first album as expected: Well, now here is a screenshot of how it looks in BubbleUPnP on Android: As you can see, some weird kind of fallback image has been fetched for the Jon Bellion folder (Meat Loaf??). As you can also see, the older artists are displayed correctly. Jon Bellion has been added to the library more recently than the other ones. And it´s the same with all other new artists I add. All of them end up with a Meat Loaf picture instead of the correct artist cover art. I have contacted the Bubble UPnP support and they told me that Emby does not return the right image http URL in UPnP view. It seems right in Emby itself, but not through the UPnP channel. Is this a know bug of newer versions? Any suggestions? Thanks
Dragon777 2 Posted May 14, 2024 Author Posted May 14, 2024 Maybe I should have posted this in the DLNA section? If so, could a moderator please move it? Thanks
Dragon777 2 Posted May 15, 2024 Author Posted May 15, 2024 (edited) No, the artist folder itself only holds the album folders. All folder.jpg images are inside the album folders. The setup is the same for all folders in my whole music library. Btw, I have tried other UPnP apps in addition to Bubble and all of them show the same image problem. Therefore the issue must be caused by the UPnP/DLNA feed from Emby. Edited May 15, 2024 by Dragon777
Dragon777 2 Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 I ran a complete metadata refresh on the library including the images. Still the same problem: The new artist folders appear with the wrong picture while the older ones are shown correctly. But all folders follow the same logic. There must be a way to fix this...
Luke 42077 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 If you use the image editor on the folder in emby server, what does that screen show for available images?
Dragon777 2 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 When I edit the image of the artist folder in Emby server, it shows the correct image which is the cover from the alphabetically first album subfolder: But in Emby server, everything is displayed correctly, anyway. The problem occurs with all UPnP/DLNA clients trying to access the Emby library. There are wrong images in the DLNA feed - not the ones which Emby server is showing.
Luke 42077 Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 OK yes I can reproduce this with bubble. here is a highly experimental build of the dlna plugin that you can try out. A lot had to change to resolve this: Emby.Dlna.zip One thing that I still see, that we have no control over, is that when a video doesn't have any image assigned, bubble will actually send a request to the video resource and extract a frame. So for things that don't have any images assigned, you might see that and wonder where it's coming from. It might do that for audio files too, but not sure. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.
Dragon777 2 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 So this is a bug of newer versions of the DLNA pluigin? Because it worked flawlessly for years, previously. What exactly do I need to do with this dll file? How can I install it on my QNAP Emby?
Luke 42077 Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 You've have to unzip it to the server plugins folder, which is underneath the server data folder: Emby Server Data Folder
Dragon777 2 Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 Alright, this new DLNA plugin version indeed fixed the issue! Thanks! Will this fix be applied to the regular releases now? 1
Luke 42077 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Eventually, yes. It has enough changes that I'm not going to put it up for everyone just yet.
