Hello,

The Emby version in latest updates says 2.1.10a (march 15th) for amazon devices but on both my fire sticks the latest version on the app store for is fire tv 2.0.98a, has 2.1.10 actually been released to the app store yet? as my nvidia shield has been on 2.1.10g since march??

Hi.  The latest release on the Amazon platform is of our standard app.  Search for just "Emby".

Hi.  I don't maintain that topic so that is just an incorrect listing for the Fire TV app.  The current version in Amazon is .98.

Any reason why? i can literally download and sideload 2.1.10a on github here https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/blob/master/androidtv/app-amazon-release.apk

but then of course i can not unlock the app as its not been released to the app store yet even though it was released in march of 2024?

same thing everyone else does that you ask this question to! the android tv app ui is better designed for tv's and the normal android app has an app that works and looks better on mobile devices.

HI, can you please be more specific about what you think is better? The standard app is fully designed for TV's. Thanks !

Is there any plan to bring the stable version of 2.1.10a thats on github from march onto the app store for amazon tv? or do i just need to sideload it?

Example: A user wants to binge watch a show they were binging before, but they dont want to continue from the episode they left on, they want to start from a season or two before.

On ATV, from they homepage they pick the episode they left off on. This screen shows the episode and 6 buttons. Resume, Play, Mark Played, Favorite, Go to Show, More.

The user clicks to the right four times and hits enter. They are now at the root of the tv series and can go to any season. 6? total button presses.

On the Android app we're told to use, from the homepage they pick the episode they left off on. This screen shows shows five buttons. Resume, Play from beginning, Mark Played, Favorite, More.

The user clicks to the right four times, hits enter to open the More menu.

The More menu, from top to bottom: Play from beginning, add to playlist, add to favorites, mark played, convert, download, download to, go to season, go to series, edit subtitles..
The user presses down 7 or 8 times to get to either the Go to Season, or Go to Show.

Also.. why is there the option to download? This is connected to my tv and streams.. its not mobile, it doesnt need to download.

Then if the user has admin rights the Menu has even more options to get through, like Convert.. something that also doesnt need to be on a TV layout.

So, do we need a new mega thread about the new android app and how each ui element is effectively less efficient than the older app?

How can we show you that the new app is not the direction we, the users, want the development to go?

We'll make sure those admin options are lower down and more out of the way. Does that help resolve your issue?

Why can't you submit the current version? The emby app is its weak point IMHO and any iteration, however small, is always welcome. And it's been so long that the play store app got updated. I am also not following why emby team wouldn't prioritize fire stick platform first given how popular fire stick devices have become.

Also anyone knows how I can unlock the other version of emby app on fire stick platform? I don't see any unlock purchase option. Fwiw I paid once for Amazon, once for Apple and once for Google platform. And I even paid for a second account for those platforms just to promote development and I have absolutely no problem paying for the other app that is on Amazon store. I just can't figure out how to purchase that one

We submitted them at the same time but there was an issue with the Amazon one.  We have resubmitted and it will hopefully go out soon.
