Changing File Path Name Question

I want to cleanup my file naming structure, is there a way to just rename the a folder that my media is in without it having to "scan or scrape" the media from scratch again. It is a big folder and I did try to do it to a similar size folder which took about 5 hours to scan all the data/posters/etc.... I understand the length of  time due to the size of the folder, just trying to avoid it all together, with a simple path name change.

I have an idea but want to confirm this would work. Can I just go into the Libraries section in the Admin Control Panel an manually edit the existing path to a different name, which would reflect the new path name?
