jiggity 35 Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Hi, I have files that played fine prior to the upgrade, now they do not play on the LGTV app, but when directly connected to the TV on a USB drive they play no issues. So it is not an issue of the client device no being compatible. I tried the same file on 4 different clients, only the LGTV app will not play it, the client is capable of direct play. The fire-stick still exhibits the same old black screen DV bugs The theater app on windows, plays with no issue, the android client on my phone plays with no issue, the web client plays with no issue. This is a problem with this file type and the LGTV client app Quote Video ID : 1 Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main 10@L5@High HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, Profile 8.1, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, no metadata compression, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version HDR10+ Profile B, HDR10+ Profile B compatible Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC Duration : 2 h 45 min Bit rate : 24.5 Mb/s Width : 3 840 pixels Height : 1 606 pixels Display aspect ratio : 2.39:1 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 (Type 2) Bit depth : 10 bits Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.166 Stream size : 28.4 GiB (96%) Title : BEN.THE.MEN Language : English Default : Yes Forced : No Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.2020 Transfer characteristics : PQ Matrix coefficients : BT.2020 non-constant Mastering display color primaries : BT.2020 Mastering display luminance : min: 0.0050 cd/m2, max: 1000 cd/m2 Maximum Content Light Level : 880 cd/m2 Maximum Frame-Average Light Level : 475 cd/m2 Audio #1 ID : 2 Format : E-AC-3 JOC Format/Info : Enhanced AC-3 with Joint Object Coding Commercial name : Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos Codec ID : A_EAC3 Duration : 2 h 45 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 768 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel layout : L R C LFE Ls Rs Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 911 MiB (3%) Title : BTM DDP5.1 Atmos Language : English Service kind : Complete Main Default : Yes Forced : No Complexity index : 16 Number of dynamic objects : 15 Bed channel count : 1 channel Bed channel configuration : LFE Dialog Normalization : -21 dB compr : -0.28 dB dialnorm_Average : -21 dB dialnorm_Minimum : -21 dB dialnorm_Maximum : -21 dB Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Commercial name : Dolby Digital Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 1 h 23 min Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 640 kb/s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 381 MiB (1%) Title : BTM DD 2CH Language : Spanish Service kind : Complete Main Default : Yes Forced : No Dialog Normalization : -31 dB dialnorm_Average : -31 dB dialnorm_Minimum : -31 dB dialnorm_Maximum : -31 dB Text #1 ID : 4 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 2 h 21 min Bit rate : 4 b/s Frame rate : 0.023 FPS Count of elements : 196 Stream size : 5.01 KiB (0%) Title : BTM Language : English Default : Yes Forced : Yes Text #2 ID : 5 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 2 h 35 min Bit rate : 27 b/s Frame rate : 0.116 FPS Count of elements : 1081 Stream size : 31.7 KiB (0%) Title : BTM Language : English Default : No Forced : No Text #3 ID : 6 Format : UTF-8 Codec ID : S_TEXT/UTF8 Codec ID/Info : UTF-8 Plain Text Duration : 2 h 37 min Bit rate : 41 b/s Frame rate : 0.183 FPS Count of elements : 1729 Stream size : 48.2 KiB (0%) Title : BTM Language : English Default : No Forced : No Menu 00:00:00.000 : en:Chapter 01 00:09:15.221 : en:Chapter 02 00:21:29.914 : en:Chapter 03 00:29:31.021 : en:Chapter 04 00:40:08.908 : en:Chapter 05 00:50:40.915 : en:Chapter 06 01:00:34.134 : en:Chapter 07 01:09:54.527 : en:Chapter 08 01:19:40.488 : en:Chapter 09 01:30:39.939 : en:Chapter 10 01:39:06.071 : en:Chapter 11 01:49:35.867 : en:Chapter 12 01:59:40.430 : en:Chapter 13 02:10:24.616 : en:Chapter 14 02:18:50.288 : en:Chapter 15 02:24:19.242 : en:Chapter 16 02:37:45.799 : en:Chapter 17

Yes, if i enable subtitle extraction, the video playback works, but the subtitles won't. Which is a whole other layer of odd. The video, and the subtitles embedded, directly play on the TV when plugged in on a USB drive, but when Emby tries to directly play them, it won't?

Something fails in the pipeline, and it isn't the client devices ability to handle the file.

But yes 4.8 introduced lots of subtitle specific issues the devs need to address but have mentioned in other topics they are looking into it. 1

For now, I would recommend to enable subtitle extraction as turning it off does generally cause more issues. How long do you wait for subtitle extraction to complete? Depending on your server capabilities and the size of the file it can take a minute or two in the worst case on first playback of the file.

With it enabled playback is instantaneous, but again, the subtitles do not work. I let it play for several minutes. The playback issues are not limited to this singular file though. Even set to AC3 this one will not play through Emby at all on the LGTV app, at all. All I get is incompatible stream notices. jiggity 35 Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 SRT files take way too long for extraction, and that is unacceptable. 3+ minutes and then the subs come in out of sync MOV_TEXT subs, no wait, PGS with transcoding no wait, ASS no wait. The issue is something in the pipeline. it broke after the upgrade to 4.8
