Android App Connect Issues

I've seen older posts but never a solution.

I've triple checked the User information on my server and password.  Deleted and recreated accounts multiple times.  Confirmed the account has my email associated with it.

I always end up with "Invalid username or password"

Hi there, what does the title of the login screen say?

Doing the same on Android (connecting through cellular) and WIndows (LAN)

OK you said you checked the information on your server, but that’s the Emby connect sign in screen, not your local server sign in.

Try clicking skip and then correcting to your server and see if that helps.

OK - why is this  happeningl?

The server is literally running - I'm watching a show and connected to it via Windows Remote Desktop

That works but isn't Connect to supposed to free me from remembering what my ISP assigned IP address is?

What if you click add server, what happens then?

yes certainly. It's just important to understand the difference between the Emby Connect login and your private server login. They are two different things, and attempting to use the credentials for one on the login screen of the other will result in an error. It sounded like you were trying to use your private server credentials on the Emby Connect login screen.

Thanks -  I understand that you create the username/password for local access on the server but where are the Emby Connect credentials stored/maintained?

I've tried "mirroring" my username and password everywhere I could find on anything "Emby" and still seem to have this disconnect.

In the example above I was trying to connect to the Emby site and that windows with the 3 options popped up.  When I try to use the credentials I had just updated on server it came back with the error.

It feels like I'm being forced to log into "Connect" but I can because I don't have the correct credentials but to change them I need to login - vicious circle.

The Connect login is the login for this forum.

Interesting.  I can log in here but if I try the same credentials for the Android App it doesn't work

Did you try the third bullet point? Your browser might be redirecting you to https.

OK so when you get the unable to reach server error, this is the reason why you can't connect.

What you will need to do is choose one of these four options. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

I don't understand the error.  The server is running on my home LAN - I can reach it via Windows remote desktop.  I have drives on it mapped and can access those.  My ShieldTV is streaming content from it to a TV.

It’s not an issue of reachability. It’s an issue of browser requirements and restrictions for https.

When you use the hosted web app over https, the browser will not allow you to connect to your Emby server over plain http. They just don’t allow that anymore.
so that’s not a bug per se but rather that you have to pick one of the four options in the bullet points.
