brimack 0 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 (edited) To preface, I have a huge digital music collection (56,000+ albums) and a lot of rare stuff and bootlegs which usually aren't found by metadata scrapers. So i have to download and manually edit a lot of things. That said i find the process of editing images for albums or movie covers tedious, it's so many steps when it could just be one 'edit' button right on the first screen. The way it is now, if a file has no image, or an incorrect image, you have to 1) click the 3 dots to the right of the image, 2) click the word edit images 3) click the 3 dots by primary image 4) click select image file 5) that pops up another window where you have to click or drag and drop your image. 5 STEPS just to change an image! now multiply that by thousands if you have as many to edit as i do and that is just insane. Editing a main cover image should be a single click, all you need is a little camera icon under the main cover image and when clicked it should pop up the box with the drag and drop or folder. Another little icon can be beside the camera for 'searh for image' if you don't have them stored locally. That's it, it doesn't need the other options like 'thumb/banner'disc' etc because you're not editing those, you want the cover image, those other things can be hidden behind the 3 dots process. Also when editing movies, when databases don't have a cast list and you have to manualy enter people, please make it so that you can open the box once and type the entire cast list out at once instead of having to hit save after each and every person, close it, open the edit again etc.. that is also so tedious and time consuming. This is a great app that and i'm enjoying as an alternative to the ever more bloated Plex but it needs steamlining to make things quicker and easier. Edited May 11, 2024 by brimack
Luke 42078 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Hi, have you tried the quick icons that are directly on the detail screens?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I guess it depends on what screen you are editing from as item details has quick links. But with there being multiple images per item it will not be a quick link to any specific image but the image editor. So yes you can eliminate 2 click via item details view but you are adding a click to get there. But yes having the context menu options available in cardtext also could help as you already have search and delete and there is room for the other two.

I'm not sure which screen that is you are cropping? if i have a folder with movies in it, and the box cover is wrong on one, you click the cover to go into that listing, now from there it's the process i listed, clicking the 3 dots (quick links?) under the title, then you see a huge vertical list of things, from there you have to click edit images, then that other box pops up where you see 'primary, logo, thumb, banner, disc, art' and you have to click one of those, then click select image file again. It's that step that i think is nuts, so many clicks. instead of having a small camera or image icon right there on the very first page under the image of that item that you can click to instantly bring up a folder of your images to swap it. It's hard to explain but i don't see a short way of doing it in the current way that it's set up. Edited May 12, 2024 by brimack

Little confused as going to folder of your images has nothing to do with Emby Edit Images. And jumping to ie folder content just can't happen in all platform or across the internet and never should.

There's room for all of them, yeah, but even if there isn't "delete" wouldn't be the one I'd choose to put there. How often is anyone really going to delete an image without replacing it? That must surely be the least-used of the four buttons.
