My tracks do not have embedded images.  If I gave them embedded images, would that show up in Emby?

Yes per the song image extraction option but location saved will depend on structure setting.

So is there any way to get images to come up when I search for new images or does it just not work?

No as it is impossible to search for a folder image as it is not a Album and has no providers to search.

Since music is tag driven and not folder driven like say movies you have to ensure your tracks are tagged.

In that case, then why does it find images for some of them but not others.  It seems like if Emby can find images in the first place, then I should be able to search for new images.

Need specific examples as a folder you can not find images.  Emby will use existing folder images or extract track image for album.  But structure will determing if image goes in folder.

image reside in folder per structure setting as this is a Artist folder but will never be able to search for images as it is just a folder.

Same applies to what you would say is album folder as folders are not anything specific when it comes to Music.

Emby found an image for The Piano Guys but not The Piano Guys 2.  The logs are attached in previous posts.

Sure but Folders cannot be queried.  You have to use Album or Artist tab to query.    And depending on your folder structure and library setting on whether images are even save in folder to be see in folder view at all.  Everything has already been explained.

But in the end you need to TAG your music tracks.

Music Naming | Emby Documentation

I looked up how Emby wants me to organize the songs and I was doing it a little different than it wants.  I had folders with the artist name followed by a hyphen and the album name.  I reogranized it so that I have a folder with the artist name and another folder inside it with the album name.  Emby grabbed the images without an issue so I think I'm good now.  Thank you for the help.

Just to clarify, there is no required folder structure for music. No specific organization or file naming is needed. The fact that it worked this time probably has more to do with renaming folders, thus creating new entries in your server database and retrying fresh. What happy2play said about embedded tags within your audio files is correct.

If you have your music library set up for perfectly organized artist\album folders but then don't actually have it organized that way, would that cause Emby to have trouble finding the images?

When you talk about embedded tags, are you saying to make sure that the artist and album names are correct in the tags for each track?

Lack of embedded track data.

Yes

But Folder view may or may not have image directly in folder so may or may not display a image.  Folders are not searchable only Album/Artist/AlbumArtist tabs are (there are a few more.  But Songs and Folder tabs are not.

Structure and structure setting determine where Emby can save images to.  So if they can't save to your structure they will same to /metadata/musicalbums leaving for folder still not showing any images in Emby.

Correct, yes. If you happen to specify that option, then the folder structure becomes required.
