Photos not showing correct size

I have brought this up before, but it is apparently time to revisit as it is still not corrected. Photos on the Android app (on a tv) are not being displayed correctly. I am including screen shots so you can see the difference. I updated the server this morning and the apps are installed by the system, I am no longer installing any beta apps!

Server version  4.8.6.0

Android for TV version  2.1.10g

Android version  3.3.86

There will be 4 pics, first screenshot of settings page for TV app 2.1.10g, then the photo, next is screenshot of Android app 3.3.86, and last is same photo. You will see (by paying attention to the lower left corner of the photo where the signature is) that the Android for TV app displays the photo correctly, while the Android app cuts off the bottom (and maybe more). Hope this info will help you guys fix this issue.

HI, what is the resolution of that photo?

The resolution is 5019x3346 which is a VERY standard 3:2 ratio.

How does the Emby web app on the server machine compare?

I have no clue what you are asking! The server machine is a WD Nas. The apps are on the same TV, the Android for TV app displays correctly (as does Jellyfin), the Android app does not!

OK can you zip up that image and attach the zip file here? thanks.

I am sending you 4 photos. They are different resolutions (due to cropping) but all 4 are in the 3:2 aspect ratio.

I did test this on a Sony Tv and a LG TV, both running the same versions of the apps with the same results. Interestingly, on my Android phone, running the same version, the photos show correctly.

I also checked about 5 different photo viewers on the computer and the photos are displayed correctly on all of them. It is just the Emby Android (not the TV one) that does not show them correctly. On a side note, there is a weird black screen thing that happens on that app also when changing from photo to photo.

Hope you guys can get this fixed.

Just checking to see if anything has happened with this issue? Problem still exists!

We’ve reproduced it and are looking into it. Thanks.

Just asking if anything is happening with this. Almost 6 months later and no fix. Yes I checked the version. At least the AndroidTV version still shows the photos properly.

So, while I understand this issue is not your highest priority, it is now well after 6 months after my original question about this. I never did receive a response from my last question in this thread so I guess it is fair to say this will never be fixed? Please do not cut off the Android TV versions, at least they are not as screwed up as the Android version!

@Checkoutsidecan you please try the latest update to Emby for Android and let us know how that compares:

Thanks !

Sorry, but which do I dload for a Sony TV. I have to dload it on a Windows machine and mess around a bit to get it on my TV. Or will it show up on Google Play store which means it will update automatically within a short time. I am on 3.4.74 now.

Actually, what would be best is a direct link to the correct file as it looks like the page it points to dloads the latest version. I believe I need the ARM64 version (???) for my Sony TV. With a direct link I can get it on my Windows machine and then (hopefully) get it on my Sony via a usb stick.

Hi, yes probably arm64, although armv7 will work on any android device.

So how would I download that version so I can put it on my Sony Tv? (Direct link?)

If you've never done this before then it's probably best to just wait for the next store update. We should have one relatively soon.

I have done it before but you sent a direct link. But I will just wait for the update to come through. I hope this update for the Android app goes well, because right now I am dreading the day you guys pull the plug on the Android TV version, which continues to work well!

So, my Emby Android app FINALLY updated to 3.5.12 this morning. This issue is still there, looks like no change at all. Emby Android TV app still shows photos correctly. Would be nice to get this fixed but I do understand it is not the biggest issue you have at the moment after the release of the new server version.

I do not know if you guys are even looking at this thread but, just to keep it up to date, in the past few days my Emby for Android (standard) app updated to 3.5.15. Unfortunately, the photos are still NOT displaying at the correct size. As always, the same photos show fine in the Emby for Android Tv app v2.1.23g.

Now that this issue is over 1.5 years old, I am wondering if this will ever be fixed? If not, can we just say so and then I can move on. I know for most here this is NOT a big deal at all. BUT, it is to me. Please respond. All the info needed is in this thread and nothing has changed at all!

Back in May 2024, I reported an issue with photos not showing correct size in the Standard Android app on Sony TV. The same photos show correct in the Android TV app on the same device.

The original thread is titled "Photos not showing correct size" started by me on 05-08-2024.

Am wondering if this issue will ever be fixed? If not, just say so and I will move on. All the info is in the thread, even where you guys stated you were able to see the issue.

Please respond!
