Noel-M 11 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Emby server windows version 4.8.5.0 If I schedule to record programs A and B, consecutively on the same channel, then two recordings are created. The first recording is called A and contains program A. The second recording is called B and contains program A followed by program B. To watch program B I have to skip through all of program A. There is no problem if the consecutive recordings are on different channels. This behaviour started occurring a few months ago.
Luke 42080 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Hi there, can we please look at a specific example: How to Report a Problem Thanks !
Noel-M 11 Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 I recorded 3 consecutive programs on the same channel. Recordings start 5 minutes before and end 15 minutes after. * BBC News At Ten (30 minutes duration) * ABC America World News Tonight With David Muir (30 minutes duration) * PBS Newshour (60 minutes duration) All 3 recordings start with "BBC News at Ten". To view "PGS Newshour" I have to skip through both the other programs. Recorder TV directory listing attached. Check the size of the files on the emby server. * BBC News At Ten (50 minutes duration = 30 + 20) * ABC America World News Tonight With David Muir (80 minutes duration = 30 + 30 + 20) * PBS Newshour (140 minutes duration = 60 + 30 + 30 + 20) I note the creation time of the files is 5 minutes before the program start (as expected) Logs attached.. hardware_detection-63850431611.txt embyserver (2).txt
Luke 42080 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 @Noel-Mapologies for the delay. This should be resolved in the upcoming 4.8.8 Emby Server maintenance release. If you need immediate relief, the fix should be on the beta channel by tomorrow. Thanks ! 1
Noel-M 11 Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Hi Luke, Installed Emby Server 4.9.0.20 beta. This problem still exists. I recorded 3 consecutice programs - same channel - 30 minutes each (+ 5 mins before and 15 mins after) After recordings complete ... The span between [date created] and [date modified] is as expected. However, the [size] and [length] values indicates the problem. The 1st recording contains the first program. The 2nd recording contains the first and second programs. The 3rd recording contains all programs. Logs attached. hardware_detection-63851810294.txt embyserver (5).txt
Luke 42080 Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 HI, have you changed any options in wintv? It defaults to 10 minute buffer files. Quote H:\HauppaugePauseBuffer\livetv-13048.ts For emby usage that should be left at the default value.
Solution Noel-M 11 Posted May 22, 2024 Author Solution Posted May 22, 2024 That appears to be the problem - and the fix. Several years ago my playback was extremely poor, and I experimented with lots of things - obviously including that value. The problem turned out to be Windows backup (using file history) which was backing up all of the hauppauge intermediate files. That change was made years ago - the current problem only started months ago. Anyway, thanks for your analysis and perserverance. 1
