Hi! I've been experiencing this for the last while as well! I thought maybe there was a lip-syncing feature that was adjusting things, but now it's happening several times an hour for all my videos, old and new. Was there any resolution for this? Thanks!!

(I've been running my Emby server off my Synology NAS for the last couple years and using the Emby Roku app)

Still happening, might be getting worse.  I have Live tv hooked up but don't use it I moved some stuff around and tested to see if the tuner was still working and I noticed it does the same thing on Live TV, so maybe a transcoding issue?

Running the most current version on windows 2019.

So not sure if I mentioned this but for me it happens with playback on the Emby for Roku app. I found another thread on the Roku section here:

I've also noticed that on some older videos, like AVI files, the video will pause and only the audio skips back, then when the audio gets to where the video is paused then the video resumes.

I'm going to be watching some TV tonight on my Windows PC via the browser on Emby so I'll take note if it happens on a non-Roku platform.

I only had time to do a quick test but for the first time I was able to pause an episode I was watching and then resume without issue. So thats a tentative yes its working from me. I can report back if I notice any issues when I get a chance to mess around more. Thank you its much appreciated!

Still happening on random videos. At least once if not more per video.

Do you have a file on the smaller side, e.g. half hour TV show that demonstrates this issue you could provide us for testing?

Hi Carlo,
I can provide a file like that for you. Let me know if you want that and I can upload it somewhere for you.

This is still an issue on 4.8.11.0 on Chrome 136.0.7103.114
I'm running emby server on a Raspberry Pi 5 (up to date software)

Is there a public issue tracker we can look at to get updates about this?
I'm sure it's not fun to repeatedly respond to user requests for updates.

I hadn't encountered this bug until a few days ago. At first I thought the show creators added the skips to the video on purpose, but no.
This is the filename of the video where I first encountered it. Can be found easily on Usenet: Black.Mirror.S07E01.REPACK.1080p.WEB.h264-ETHEL.mkv

It's been happening with almost every video since then. I can rewind 10s and repeat the glitch over and over again. If I restart the emby server (and/or the machine that runs the server) it won't happen again at that same timestamp, but it does occur again elsewhere. I can send a smaller, 500MB-ish video file in which I've encountered the issue, if that's helpful.

HI, yes a sample video would be helpful. Thanks.

I wanted to reply back and say the issue probably just stopped for a bit for me. Not sure why that was but it has returned pretty reliably now across 3 different tv shows I watched recently. I'll pause and when I come back and hit play it will exhibit the issue. If another video sample would help I can try to provide one.

This has been a consistent issue for me as well on Windows 11 , chrome or firefox playback. I've since started using Jellyfin when watching playback on a Windows machine because Jellyfin does not do this.

Recently updated to the latest version 4.9.1.80
The bug is still present in this version 😞 It really is very disruptive, has the dev team been able to reproduce it yet?

It happens on almost every video at some point. The quickest workaround I've found is to quit back to the main menu and then resume playback.

This is disappointing, been living with this for well over a year now.  I was really waiting on and hoping the next update would fix it.  I have yet to update but I see @Hank_Scorpioreported it did not solve it for their setup.

At this point should I just delete everything and try and start from new/scratch?  That seems like it could end up being a lot of time and work.

Do I or we all need to pitch in and buy/donate something (coffee, beer, snickers, ding dongs, donuts, energy drinks, ???)

Everyone has chipped in and provided logs, video sample etc.  What else do you developers need?

I just started experiencing this. It's repeatable. I have files and screencaps. What else do we need to fix it?

@Lukecan we get an update on this?

I've updated both my instances and issue still exists.
