shiftytrees 3 Posted January 9, 2025 Posted January 9, 2025 2 hours ago, Luke said: You could just refresh the metadata from a parent folder level. That is probably the least disruptive method. sorry for the double post, but its still running the metadata refresh, and it seems like that worked! thanks for the help Luke, im starting to get results that are ignoring the periods within the titles! 1
MacGyver27 20 Posted January 17, 2025 Author Posted January 17, 2025 Hey. So I updated to the version 4.9.0.35 beta. I refreshed metadata for the particular library. For some queries I am able to find all the files but for some others not even a half of all the files it should find.. It has been 24 hours since the metadata refresh.. Is there anything else I can do? Otherwise the bug is still present in 4.9.0.35 beta version. Thank you
MacGyver27 20 Posted January 17, 2025 Author Posted January 17, 2025 To point to the specific scenario which proves the bug is still present.. I am searching for the string "karter". On the disk there are totally 45 files containing such string in the following formats: xxx.karter.xxx xxx karter xxx xxxkarterxxx Filesystem (22 + 23 = 45): Emby finds 26 results only: Jellyfin finds all the 45 files in all 3 formats xxx.karter.xxx | xxx karter xxx | xxxkarterxxx
MacGyver27 20 Posted January 20, 2025 Author Posted January 20, 2025 Nothing changes after another 3 days.. still 26 results from Emby..
Luke 42077 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 HI, remember this is not a filename search. It is a title search based on the title in emby server. So for content that isn't showing up, I would suggest going to them and reviewing what the title is in emby server.
EmblemJD 21 Posted May 12, 2025 Posted May 12, 2025 @MacGyver27I had a very similar issue (same media type ) as well and I ended up creating a "dot removal" script since the search function is so lacking. Have you managed to get this to work as intended by now? I do not want to rebuild my library again and lose all playlists / favorites etc...you had way more patience than I did back in my post about this back in December 2023 "Search Results not satisfactory" @LukeCould you please explain the search a bit more? How come the filename is omitted and special chars break search? I cannot rely on Metadata especially not in "Home videos & photos" type libraries. Thanks!

Thanks! filename just hasn't been added to the search index yet, but this really shouldn't matter for home videos because the title that you see in emby will almost always be the filename anyway.
