I'm not sure exactly, but now that we know the intention is to ignore the content starting with a dot, I think the best thing for you to do is rename that folder.

We can look into whether it's best to keep, change or remove that behavior but that's something that will take time as there could be a lot of impacted users. Thanks.

Look. This clearly doesn't make sense what you say.. All files are present in the library. If they would be ignored during scan they would not appear in the library right? Only when user tries to search for them the most of them are missing. Correct me if I am wrong, but searching happens against Emby's database which should contain all the files from the library. And there lays the problem..

Anyway I did another instance from scratch again where I renamed the folder so it doesn't hidden folder anywhere on the path and again with the very same behavior:

Correct. I say this from the beginning.

I was asked to rename the folder so there isn't anywhere on the path a hidden one. Which I did with the very same behavior.

Are you now able to follow up with the problem? Or do you need more testing from me?

I'd love an update on this as well. it makes it a nightmare to navigate the library. Im having the exact same problem where I cant find titles that have titles in them. For instance if im looking for Skylar Vox but the title is called Skylar.Vox it will yield no results.

Also waiting for that to be fixed, really annoying. I use Plex mainly and I never had such problems, only the Emby search is so bad. As a dev I don't understand the reason why this doesn't work. I have Emby Premiere btw.

Still no update on a fix for this? as its getting really old and its already a really weird bug. As Xairoo said I don't have this issue with Plex so its weird that its happening with Emby for some reason.

There will be some fixes for this in the next beta build of the server. Participation will be key there to ensure we have as many test cases covered as possible.

Once you have 4.9.0.34+, please test searching, and if the results are not as expected, then please report your findings in the testing area of the community.

so I installed 4.9.0.35 and it still cant find files with periods in the title. I went to the testing section and all I can find is a test forum for the WMC.

 

and then at least one file with the xwife in it but not showing up in any searches for her.

Hi, for the things that didn’t show up, try opening the metadata editor and just clicking save. Then run your search again and see if it shows up.

Only for videos that aren't showing up in search results as expected, and it would only be for the specific reason that is outlined in this thread.

You could just refresh the metadata from a parent folder level.  That is probably the least disruptive method.

lemme try that, at this point I dont mind or care about disruptive, if I have to go through every single video when so few come up in searches that may be the better option in the long term
