Please update the Emby for Apple TV app

For the most part, the screen layouts match the web app in terms of layout and design.  We are somewhat limited by the current Apple TV templates, which is why we rows are featured where they are and we can't do gradients, etc.  Overall, it's getting as close to the web app layout as we can currently get.

the ABC in library is really missing

 

the other thing is the login method which is uncontortable if I want to use it more then one user (I miss the old method where I could set up on the server for passwordless login on local network)

But once each user has connected once, if you ensure save login is set then you can switch between them without a password like the old way - this is how all the apps work now

yeah, no  the problem is the method! I have got kids, and for them is too hard to switching user, in the old way when they open the app and they must choose a user, now if I check in the remeber me in the settings, the app every time open the last user and if I uncheck it, then it requires password... 

I really don't think that problem is only mine... and I really don't understand why must change the LOCAL passwordless login ability, it's only worked when I login on the device once with password

 

and my wife hates too the method so with our user we switch to infuse and the kids using the emby app, but this is not okay

Got it, so you had no password and remember me off.

I guess you would have this issue with all Emby apps, it's not unique to ATV - Infuse is the way around that

I am missing the old why, where when I open the app it open with the login page where I can coose the user I want and login without password because its local, I understand the new method but it's hard to a 5 year old kid and not confort for an adult too

yeah its not the ATV app, but i think its a bigger problem than a missing ABC

(and someone in this thread or another said, there is an option for what i want in the android tv app, so if it's true, it's a little bit ATV app problem)

Since you mentioned Infuse, they have gradients and they have the exact tv series details page I mentioned above. Not sure it's an Apple TV template limitation.

I have got password, because we use it outside the home network too

I only want the passwordless login in my LOCAL network, I want to open the app, the opened on the login screen, I choose one of the users and it logging in without any additional button press

Now I use infuse, but I don't want to use it, because I paid for Emby premier with lifetime and don't want to pay for another service for using my paid Emby....

 

 

and no, my iPhone don't want password from me if I set up not automatically login (not testing with others)

I wonder if you set up duplicate users (local and remote) if you could solve this. So...

 user 1 local

 user 1 remote

^^ same user, same libraries

 set local with no password and hide user from remote connections

 set remote with password and hide user from local connections

 This way, when connecting locally you would only see local users and no password required. When connecting remotely you would see only remote users and require a password.

I think about it earlier but thats not a full solvation (sorry for a bad english) sync tha played items for example

Yes, I thought about that after I posted. 
Seems like under user/password there should be a setting for only remote password.

earlier there were a setting like this (do not ask for a password on a local network or something like that) or a settings in Apple TV app which can store the password but not automatically logging in on app start (like Netflix, disney+ plex and so on)

• Fixes for play all from here with songs
• Display more items in home screen sections
• Improve HDR/DV playback
• Add Included In section for series
• Support shuffle mode in audio player
• Support version selection on detail screens
• Update music artist screen to match the web app

I upgraded without an issue, thank you...!

I also had noticed that a previous update added the missing "Songs" tab in the music library, allowing us to shuffle our entire song library.  Awesome!

At this point I think the only real criticism I still have is not having an option for backdrops on the home screen, and the fact that the artwork doesn't cycle in the details screens of the various categories.  I find it very aesthetically (thanks spell check ) pleasing to see a nice rotation of the artwork I curate.  But thanks for the progress!  I appreciate the efforts, as always...

Hey, it seems the Update broke the chapter selection. Does anyone else have this problem?

It doesn´t display any Chapters not even the ones generated for every 5 minutes.

When playing on mobile the Chapters are still there, its only on the Apple TV App. Worked fine before the Update.

So the update broke a few things for me.

Chapters not working, prerolls either from cinema intros or vantage are very hit and miss, and more annoyingly media does not seem to stop when I back out of it. The nav goes back to the Home Screen, but whatever you were watching remains playing in the background. Having to completely close down the app to get it to stop.

Are you referring to chapters on the item detail screen, or in the OSD during playback?

I mean the chapter selection during video playback. I'm gonna add a screenshot (not reallya screenshot).

The chapters dont display on the details page, but i think they never did.

I just tried some other shows which have worked before the update and they have the chapters also gone.

When I play them through my phone, then the chapters show up without any issues.

There is no any kind of improvement for HDR or DV , we couldn't see any hdr and dv and still the same.

Can someone explain me what means of improvement?

But the great change I can mention is now we can choose version of movies and episodes . Thanks a lot for this change

Subtitles section need to be completely revamp and HDR and DV have to be Supported then we can say we have basic app for apple tv

I wanted to mention this for the Apple TV app, but I checked and it's not specific to Apple TV.  I figure I'll ask @Lukeand others paying attention whether this is a known bug or not?

There is an option in the apps to show details for the next episode at the conclusion of what's playing.  If that is enabled, it doesn't show anything, and merely creates extra blank screens you have to back out of to get back to the shows' screen.  Like whatever that option is supposed to show, doesn't.  It's easy enough to turn the option off, but it seems like there is an unfinished feature there...
