If you’re saying you should see entire series instead of the seasons or episodes, then no that delineation is not meaningless if you’re trying to create specific collections of individual episodes.  So I would say if the series is  what you want in the collection then just add that.

Missing the point completely.

Some collections are made up of a mixture of Movies and shows, some of Seasons and episodes, some of a mixture of movies and episodes.

Prior to this whole stupid horizontal sliding restructure, all items form TV, regardless of how they were added simply showed under shows.
This new decision is no longer "Media Your Way" it is now do it they way we decided you should do it and we will not explain why we changed it, so just do it!!

Depends on the library setup that they belong to.

They're in a movies library, but why does the library setup matter? They're movies.

Why are you continuing to ignore the fact that it's impossible to horizontally scroll large collections?

There seems to be no point to arguing with them on this point. This dev team for what ever reason dose not seem to understand that not everyone whats to endlessly horizontal/side scroll through their media. If I could disable all horizontal/side scrolling and have a vertical option instead I would be so happy. I hate horizontal/side scrolling.

In Theater have you tried the new Group By button? It is right next to the sort button and will allow you to go back to the combined vertical list. All Emby apps will be getting that.

It matters because if it was in a home videos library then it would say Videos. If it's listed in the Videos section then it's in your server database as a plain video rather than a movie. We'd have to look at the specifics of that example to get to the bottom of why, which would start with the setup of that library, plus all others, file naming, folder organization, etc.

------------------------> I DO NOT USE DESKTOP OR ANDROID VIEW OPTION <-------------------------------------

Where is that option in TV mode?

I don't not want ANY forced Horizontal/ side scrolling. There should ALWAYS be an option for vertical viewing. Why can you not provide an option and let us users decided what work best for us?

Why dose have to be only one way? Your way?

Just give us more options to customize the UI! PLEASE!

It's a movie library. The "Videos" entries are extras in other movies (for example, A.K. is included on the StudioCanal release of Ran), and are simply a .strm pointing at the movie's MKV, with the movie's NFO file copied over to retain all the metadata.

OK yes that explains it then.

He's not.  See the new option currently being implemented.

Did this "new option" ever get implemented?

I suppose it's probably going to be easier for me to just split TV shows out of the collection into a separate one so it doesn't auto side scroll. It just adds to the user experience having to do stupid workarounds to get old functionality.....

Currently it should only side scroll if there are multiple categories.

I take that as a no for the new option.

I have a collection that has Movies and TV shows in it. So as I said, I need to put the TV shows in a separate collection.

Not sure on the decision making process with this one.

Option 1 - Force users to side scroll with multiple categories in a collection.

Option 2 - Have an option so users can choose between the old method or the new side scrolling method.

I understand not wanting to have an overwhelming list of options for users but for something like this I would have thought option 2 would have been the better choice. Literally no one wants to side scroll with a large collection. Even having category tabs at the top would have been a better way to go. Like the home page has with "home" and "favorites".

Anyway, now I know what I will be doing this afternoon....

This was essentially fixed a few versions ago. There's now a "Group By" button in each collection (the icon looks like two stacked calculators, right next to the heart icon). You can set this to "None" and it will display all collections in the old, vertical, mixed-media-type way. You only need to change this for one for it to change for all collections, but each user would need to do this themselves, as Group By "Media Type" is still default (aka, the horizontal scrolling way).

This just merges them all together. The "old" way kept the different categories separate but vertically scrolled.

Actually the old behavior was that they were all combined into a single section that scrolled vertically.

Your gaslighting almost got me.

But then I found this image showing how collections used to work.

Granted that was 5 years ago so maybe it changed to merged before it changed to sidescrolling but I can't say I ever noticed that.

That looks to be a screenshot of the Android client. The Windows client / browsers have always had vertical mixed types (well, except for a few months when that option was nuked). It seems like the Android client might've been recently updated to match Windows. I see it now has a "Group By" button, where it did not last I checked.

I just googled the issue and this is the thread that came up. I'm using the LG TV client and occasionally firefox in windows. I guess I'm in the wrong section, I wouldn't have expected something like this to be different across clients.

Yeah, you're definitely not alone there...

Does this custom css accomplish your goal?

div.homeSectionsContainer div.section0 div.scrollSlider {
    flex-wrap: wrap;
}

I can't use that in the LG client app.

I solved the issue by separating my collections that contained a mix of TV and Film. eg) I now have Star Wars and Star Wars TV. Same for Marvel, Star Trek etc...

I think I prefer it this way anyway instead of lumping them all into one collection.
