Betelgeuse 14 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 (edited) Some NAS support apps, such as Synology and Western Digital. I have plans to buy a new NAS to replace my Buffalo TS-XE8.0TL/R5 due to it is almost full (8TB) I was looking at WD My Cloud EX4 (that happens to have a special price here right now). At their page http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1170#Tab8 they say that they welcome developers. It would be really great to be able to have MB server installed in the NAS - just one unit to power up! I have no idea if the processor inside is powerful enough, but I guess some of you clever guys know. It seems that WD has a better price than Synology - at least here. Anyone? techywarrior 689 Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Well, I definitely wouldn't want to be transcoding from the NAS but purely running MBS should be possible. You just need to find a developer who can spend the time. Since MBS works on Linux (and it's getting better each release) there shouldn't be a huge issue making it work on most/all NAS boxes.
Betelgeuse 14 Posted November 7, 2014 Author Posted November 7, 2014 I know that Serviio has an app for Synology NAS, but have no idea how well it works.
