Unabled to reinstall 3rd-party plug-in

Hi there,

Today I tried to installed this 3rd-party plug-in, which name is "ThePornDB" from https://github.com/ThePornDatabase/Jellyfin.Plugin.ThePornDB

At first it was properly installed but its function won't work (could not save settings) on my emby server (windows, version 4.8.3), so I decided to unintall and reinstall it to see if it would work just fine.

 

1. First I uninstalled it,

 

2. And then put the .dll file in the plugins folder,

 

3.Right after I reboot emby server,  "ThePornDB plug-in" just won't reappear in My Plug-ins, I hope someone could provide some help, thanks!

Well the plugin is not maintained anymore and a quick look on your link: https://github.com/ThePornDatabase/Jellyfin.Plugin.ThePornDB/issues/72         indicate the plugin is no more working with recent versions of Emby and Jellyfin !

You can't reinstall it as it's not maintained and so no more compatible with current versions of Emby and Jellyfin. Only solution is that developer of it updates it

Looks like it will need a compatibility update for the latest version of the server.

The plugin is still maintained, the last release was in July. However the developer just said today that they won't be supporting Emby anymore unless compatibility is fixed on the Emby side. There's a fork of it at https://github.com/MetaSquared/Jellyfin.Plugin.ThePornDB, but they have no releases.

Just the messenger, paraphrasing the dev from the github issue. Sounds like they feel an API change from 4.7 to 4.8 broke the plugin so Emby devs should make the old API work again because they won't be updating their plugin. They seem to have closed several other issue reports

I just went ahead and forked the MetaSquared fork, ran a build, and tagged a release to preserve the zip files.

It seems to be working on my instance, but I'm not really a C# developer. Maybe MetaSquared can submit a PR.

Yes there really is not going to be a path to maintain plugins that will work on both servers and each will require their own maintenance.
