Kopix 6 Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 I have current emby server Version 4.8.3.0 with active Emby Premiere. The user can remove items directly from the collections, even if I lock the collection. I don't know how to prevent it, and I haven't found anything. Perhaps only here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/25652-users-can-edit-collections-regardless-of-their-user-rights/ something like that was dealt with. Thank you very much in advance for the advice, because it is unacceptable for me that anyone (except the admin) can delete items in the collection.
bakes82 167 Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 They need to tie the delete collection permission to the remove from collection also, claims it was fixed in 4.6, but clearly not lol.... Oddly enough a user cant "add to collection"
Luke 42079 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Hi, the ability to edit collections is based on admin status on the server. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
visproduction 315 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 (edited) (Beta 4.9.0.12) Remove from collection item pop-up list does happen for non-admin user. Perhaps in baseitemcontroller.js maybe missing some 'if' function parameter to designate admin only somewhere around... BaseItemController.prototype.canRemoveFromCollection=function... hthgihwaymonk 34 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 (edited) agreed, on 4.8.3.0, the option to remove collection is there as well for non-admin users. Edited April 9, 2024 by hthgihwaymonk 1
Neminem 1519 Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Ha ha just removed a movie from a collection, with a non admin user. But can't add it back to collection with the same user.

baby555 1 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 (edited) Es cierto cualquier usuario sin permiso de administrador puede eliminar todos los elementos de la colección Edited April 10, 2024 by baby555

But yes there is room for improvement removing it from Users. Sort of needs to be the same as Playlists but Collections are usually more defined by metadata provider not users in most cases.

Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Just like it is a matter of preference that a user should or should not be able to create their own Collections.

Nobody called it broken. There were some occasional requests for admin level control over it, but that's about it.

So is the ability to remove items by non-admin users just a leftover function from the past and it's not considered a bug? It would be good to know if emby considers it a bug or a feature, as if it's a feature then I guess a feature request needs to be created to get it changed. But if it's considered a bug, then hopefully it's on a big fix list somewhere inside emby already.

Nobody called it broken It was broken…. Who would want global collections, that seems to be same idea as the horrible global playlist. Anything global should be admin only. Not sure why anyone would say otherwise unless they don’t use the feature which most don’t or don’t have multi/remote users.
Kopix 6 Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 I need this to be resolved. Is anyone working on a fix?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 It users are still seeing an issue we need to know server version number as users do not have this ability in current 4.8.0.10 or 4.9.0.30 releases only admins do. But do not know what exact versions the options were ported in.

Kopix 6 Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Sorry for the absence. Yes, this problem is solved in version 4.8.10. Thank you very much 2
