May I remind you that the lineups I looked in don't have it unless you know? You tell me a way that users can search for channels in your database? Will you add that feature?
Luke 42077 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Right but I thought you said you had xml that does have the data. So you could map to those xml channels manually, right?
lawm0500 6 Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Yeah, but that is not the point. If other users can't find information, and they have to use another website or service that has Gracenote information to put it into Emby, that would mean a lot of work. For example, I use Channels DVR. They have a search function that users can find whatever guide information they are looking for as long as the channel is used by Gracenote, and is in their database. Channels DVR is run locally. Stremium is an online service. People would need to add a stream, but they can search for the name of the channel, and as long as the channel name is in that database, along with guide information provided by Gracenote, they can add it. Stremium is online, so pulling the information into a file for use offline is difficult. Emby users have to add separate guides for all of a users' channels, with no way of searching for the exact channel. For example, my channels I am looking for are only separated. BBC Three and CBBC are separate channels yes, and have separate guide data for each yes, but, Gracenote has data for the combined channel that both Stremium and Channels DVR. Emby should have the data, but it isn't there in any of the guide information. If users were to be able to add guide information by searching for it's information in your database without having to use another program, that would make things a lot easier. Especially for users like me who needs it because of how the channels are setup.

My response was just in terms of what you can do right now (today), to get those channels mapped.

But you kind of see where I am coming from. It would be nice to have the data you have from Gracenote that people can search and map to whatever channel they need without having to add multiple guides or find out the information isn't there at all when it should be. 1
