Once we're ready to submit, then it's usually a few days after that.
teicang 34 Posted June 24, 2025 Author Posted June 24, 2025 Hi all, has this rotation issue while transcoding been resolved somehow? I just tried again with the web browser and a week ago with a Samsung Smart TV, but the video still rotates badly. I have all my personal mobile video that I cannot reproduce with Emby thx \Gianni
PMahboubi 4 Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 I have both the Emby app and the 'Emby for Firestick' App installed on my TV. Initialy they both mis-rotated videos taken with my iphone and places on my PC. Currently, the Firestick version is still rotated incorrectly. The other version works fine now. 1

When transcoding, there are still issues that we are currently working on. Thanks.
teicang 34 Posted June 25, 2025 Author Posted June 25, 2025 @Luke It's been a year since the issue was reported. Do you think you're on the right track to fixing it or is it so complex that there won't be an immediate solution? In that case I'll try to find another player to watch my videos, disconnecting them from Emby. thx for your support
visproduction 315 Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 (edited) In the meantime, using a command line script / batch file for a full ffmpeg install should be able to rotate any number of videos placed in a directory / subdirectories. Change the transpose value and .mp4 to .mkv, as needed. See: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3937387/rotating-videos-with-ffmpeg Example: ffmpeg_rotate_90_mp4_media.bat echo ... Processing all .mp4 files in a directory and subdirectories - rotate 90 degrees echo ... Ctrl X to exit pause for /R %%f in (*.mp4) do ffmpeg -i %%f -vf "transpose=1" "rotated90-%%f" echo completed pause I have not tested this batch file. It should be close. You could run this once on any folder and subfolders and the script will rotate all the videos. It should make rotated copies of all the media files. Edited June 26, 2025 by visproduction

teicang 34 Posted September 8, 2025 Author Posted September 8, 2025 Hi @sa2000 and @Luke, I just tested the beta version on my QNAP. The situation has changed, but unfortunately there's still something that doesn't work properly. Now the video no longer rotates, but the system on the Samsung TV gets the aspect ratio wrong; instead of adding two black bars on the sides, it enlarges the video to full screen, flattening all the images. To be sure, I updated the latest version of the Samsung Smart TV app to 2.2.0. I'll try to upload the Emby logs and some images hoping can help you. thxx \Gi ffmpeg-transcode-e7dec287-0732-45d9-8c9c-a4f45952c669_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-216db691-8ce9-4acf-a58a-0b65142647e8_1.txt embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-a303f0a3-a793-43ab-bf63-b17011615d20_1.txt

I'll take a look at it. 2
