BaronVonJ 12 Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I know how to setup an encrypted folder, and once it's mounted it's pretty simple to point Emby at that folder. But assuming I don't have the DSM set to store the key and decrypt/mount the folder on boot. Emby will start up and see the library path isn't available. Then what does it do? Does it retain all the entries in the database and just mark those media as missing, until I either mount the folder or delete them from the lirbary?
Solution Luke 42077 Posted April 2, 2024 Solution Posted April 2, 2024 HI, the answer is that it depends. If Emby gets an error from the file system when trying to get a file list, then it won't remove them from the database. But if it gets an empty list and no error, then to Emby it will look like an empty directory and then it will remove content from the database.
BaronVonJ 12 Posted April 2, 2024 Author Posted April 2, 2024 Ok, will test it out with some dummy files. 1
BaronVonJ 12 Posted May 8, 2024 Author Posted May 8, 2024 Forgot to update here, but it appears to be receiving errors if the encrypted volume is not mounted. I've also taken to enabling the generation of NFO files so that if the database does get messed up then theoreitically I shouldn't have to redo any of the manual metadata editing. 1
