This should be the way the library is presented with all new app development going forward.

I think some users are going to dislike the auto-catagories that are returned when you enter a view. It's one more level between the user and their content. Are we pushing the views harder because it'll be easier to conglomerate multi-server content?

No if you read the wiki it goes over that. it does that by default for the generic treatment but apps should generally do their own presentation based on the view type.
