Q-Droid 989 Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 There's at least one but probably more update scripts for this floating around in these forums. If the Emby package was added to distribution repositories or they created their own for the various base distros it could facilitate automatic updates. My question is why would anyone want to auto update unless it's limited to rolling beta releases for testing?
Luke 42077 Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 Hi, i think it would be great, it's just not something we've been able to look at yet. Thanks.
darkassassin07 652 Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 While not automatic; running via docker makes updating really simple, just two commands: docker compose pull docker compose up -d This can easily be put in a crontab line to automate updates if desired.

Stroudy 21 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I'd also like to see this. I currently run Emby on Docker which is installed on Debian OS. I use watchtower to do the auto-updates but would be nice to be able to cut out docker and watchtower and have built in auto-update on Linux version of Emby instead.

Click the link in my post above, it will install emby either beta or stable branch with your package manager apt on debian&ubuntu. If you have unattended-upgrades enabled it will also automatically update emby. Be aware that only beta is being updated regularly by the staff since they are testing releases and should be used with caution. 1
Oratorian 41 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) If you need help with moving from docker to standalone install, and moving data, send me a pm with your docker volume configuration for the emby container, and I will assist you with the migration process.
