Gecko 71 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Hi, I was wondering lately why is emby converting audio in the following scenario as the native audio format is read properly by the targeted device (iPhone with Emby native app) ? Isn't it an aggressive way of playing media in this case where the original material should be direct streamed ? It seems that any TrueHD stream is automatically converted to AC3 (tested 5.1 and 7.1). All transcoding options active in the user preferences, convert trued to ac3 15:36:15.589 Stream #0:0(eng): Video: hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv, bt2020nc/bt2020/smpte2084), 3840x2160 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], Level 153, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 1k tbn 15:36:15.589 Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: truehd, 48000 Hz, 7.1, s32 (24 bit), Start-Time 0.032s (default) 15:36:15.589 Stream mapping: 15:36:15.589 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) 15:36:15.589 Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (truehd (native) -> ac3 (native)) Deactivating audio transcoding in the user preferences, direct playing fine 07:51:46.156 Stream #0:0: Video: hevc (Main 10), yuv420p10le(tv, bt2020nc/bt2020/smpte2084), 3840x2160 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], q=2-31, Level 153, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 90k tbn 07:51:46.156 Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: truehd, 48000 Hz, 7.1, s32 (24 bit) (default) 07:51:46.156 Stream mapping: 07:51:46.156 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) 07:51:46.156 Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (copy) Full logs attached. Luke 42079 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Hi. It’s not supported by the device. It’s working by accident with the mpv player that we’re embedding but we need to disable that due to licensing. 1
