djerniehoule 23 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Hello, I am very novice at this, but I have followed every instruction. My folder with my music is Artist/Album/Music File. I have edited all my music, added images, correctly put in album artist, but I am still seeing duplicates. Can anyone offer some advise in plain English that a novice will understand?

Can anyone offer some advise in plain English that a novice will understand? Can you elaborate and show examples but can only guess your are referring to Compilation/Various Artists. Quote Tagging your albums and tracks should be straightforward with the possible exception of various artist or compilation albums. For these types of compilation albums if you want all tracks to show up as a single entity you want to make sure both the "album" and "album artist" fields are the same for all tracks. Otherwise the album will be split up for the various artists listed. Multiple artists can be listed for tracks and should be separated with a "; " (semicolon space) as shown below. Music Naming | Emby Documentation 1
Neminem 1519 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 And remember to check you music file tags, with something like mp3tag. There might be tags unwanted entries in the file tags.
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 I have several albums that this is happening with. One in particular is AC/DC ‘74 Jailbreak - I thought it might have been the separator so I changed album artist and artist to ACDC but it is still happening. That album has 5 songs one of the two duplicates is displaying tracks 2,3,4,5 but track 1 is in the other duplicate.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 And image may explain the issue better. Are you saying you see duplicate tracks? Duplicate Albums? Do you have more than one copy of the Album?
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 I have only one copy of this album
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Everything looks correct, so the only guess would be extended or multiple tag versions on the tracks. Since Emby uses ffprobe to read this info sometime programs like mp3tag don't show all the info. If you highlight all the tracks and right click and choose Extend tags is the information correct? Otherwise you would have to probe the tracks to try and see the tagging issue. ffprobe -i "path\to\file"
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 I’m not sure what you are referring too? I right clicked, selected extended tags, now what?

What do you see? Does the AA match? But will guess the issue resides here possibly with conflicting tags. And will most likely only see in FFPROBE.
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Everything appears to be the same, hmmm
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 In the end it will come down to what does ffprobe see that is different. Otherwise I would retag ensuring all previous tags were deleted. What is tag options?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Don't have the mp3 version but tagging will somewhat be the same. Need to verify per track if you have issue.
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Thanks for your help, I think I got it.. now onto the next issue
Neminem 1519 Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 Wondering what the solution was ? What did you find ? 1
djerniehoule 23 Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 just what was suggested, extended tags need to be the same as well... 1
