Gibberish in EmbyTheater on Steam Deck

I've installed EmbyTheater on my Steam Deck, and it works fine when the interface is in English.

However, as a Chinese user, when I switch to Simplified Chinese, all the Chinese characters turn into gibberish. I initially suspected that the issue might be due to incomplete system fonts, but even after installing almost every font I could think of, the problem persists.

I also tried using Traditional Chinese and Japanese, but they too are displayed as gibberish.

How can I resolve this issue?

HI, that's strange. Are you able to test the web app on the same device?

@PuTaTuo

Hi there, can you please describe your issue in more detail? Thanks.

It almost looks like the font pack (whatever emby theater may be using) is possibly missing from the distro? Maybe language pack related? idk what emby theater uses for the font.

Sorry if I am wrong. Im Just lurking around and figured maybe its helpful in some way so I just thought I'd throw it out there..

It should be using the system font, but since the app is using an older version of electron (chromium), that could be the reason for the issue. We are hoping to get that updated in the near future.

@LukeI try new version 3.0.21,but still Gibberish when set to Chinese Simplified.

If any Steamdeck users have the same problem, I have a temporary solution which is to download a windows version of emby-theater and then run it in GE-Proton9 compatibility mode.

That's interesting. Thanks for the info. We'll take a look at this.
