Hi,

I want to install the Emby client on a Zidoo Z9x media player. Which of the 4 Android versions available for download would be the correct one for this box?

Thanks!

HI, probably armv7, right?

Thank you! arm V7 works perfectly! Even supports the Zidoos player as external player, so Dolby Vision and VS10 play like a charm now :)

Anyone have much luck with emby on their Zidoo player? I mean, it works but everything starts like 20 - 30 minutes into a movie or show 😅  My server is brand new, so they're definitely not watched before.

Digging up an old thread here, but just wanted to add that the stock Emby Android app on Z9X Pro 8K running the newest firmware is flawless. All features work so far including those reported by others as not working such as

Skip

FF/RW

Resume playback from stopping point

Start playback at the start

External subtitles

TrueHD / TrueHD Atmos

DTS-HD MA and X without lagging

Ensure 3rd party app support is enabled with the emby app whitelisted for resolution / frame rate switching.

Update to clarify my prior post to avoid confusing matters... All of the points I raised are true, however I pulled the trigger a little early as I was testing everything using Emby native player, not the Zidoo external player. If you want Zidoo player, vs10 engine, custom edid support etc, many of the things you'd buy the Zidoo for you need to use the external player and if you do you then start to see some of the issues others have raised. Poor transport integration (time being lost), subtitles not working, sound popping etc. The native Emby player works really well but you don't get all the Zidoo features, and after comprehensive testing there are quite a few movies which for whatever reason don't match frame rate or resolution correctly, leading to extremely choppy playback; issues which don't occur using the Zidoo player, or emby on NVIDIA shield etc. Anyway it's still a very good app on the Zidoo, but further work is required with the possibility that there will be issues depending on your library and what you expect from the Zidoo and or Emby.

Dont use the Emby app that comes with the Zidoo box, it does seem a bit buggy. I installed the Android Arm V7 version from the Emby website and that works perfectly.

Does the Emby watched status and continue work when using the Zidoo external player? or only the internal Emby player.

I believe everything will just get marked watched regardless of where you stop.

So would resume playback be captured at Emby's end or via the Zidoo external player save point?

I use External player, the Zidoo player of course for VS10, and it correctly resumes playback and also marks watched and unwatched.

Right sorry I think we may have added custom support for this.

Although I have to say that Emby does not correctly mark TV episodes on my Zidoo as watched. Once watched the status always shows around 10-8 minutes left and therefore never marks them as watched.

Would you consider the Zidoo a suitable replacement for a home theater PC?

Hi, I haven't tested on the Zidoo personally but I don't see why not. It can on other devices.

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
