Automatic Playlists

Is it possible to setup automatic playlists? My specific use case is that I would like a playlist of all un-played TV episodes that I can then sort by either name or release/airing date (latter preferred if an individual choice is not possible) that would also automatically remove episodes as they change to "played". Even if the evaluation is only run once per day that would be perfectly acceptable.

It may sound weird, but especially with older shows having this option would play them chronologically as if watching them OTA -- and catch back to back on cross-over episodes.
