asquare3376 6 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Hello, Here's what my folder settings look like and here's what the problem is - Pick any movie. I am picking 8 Mile for example - Select any artist. I am picking Kim Basinger for example No details about the artist but as soon as you refresh their metadata manually, and come back top the same screen the details are populated - Made me wonder if I should do a metadata refresh on the entire library, I would get everything sorted out, but not. I refreshed the entire library multiple times by replacing all metadata but pictures but no success. Please advise as time permits. It's nearly impossible to refresh each and every artist individually. I never had this problem before, could it be the new emby version? I am running 4.8.3.0
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 (edited) Did you enable this option but not sure how on demand actors have become. Per library option need to enable Show advance settings toggle. But your issue appears to be more related to metadata and believe it is only on demand. Edited March 5, 2024 by Happy2Play
asquare3376 6 Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 There's no 'on demand option' available under 'show advance settings' toggle. It may be there for the music artists but not for movie artists

asquare3376 6 Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Where's the 'on demand' thing here? Also, I think this is from a Windows machine. My server is running on Synology and options are slightly different eg. no emby xml metadata reader in my case.

Not having really any new actors it is hard for me to say as they are already populated. But per you example it would appear the person failed to get metadata and did on refresh but only server logs of when it happened may show what happened. @Lukeis the metadata gotten with media for person or is it on demand when you navigate to person details?

The initial image comes with the movies. After that the rest is on demand.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I guess the question become did the first image have providerids if not then the refresh did a lookup by name and got providerid/metadata.
asquare3376 6 Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 But then overtall metadata refresh done at folder level should pull these details, right? What sort of log you'd be interested in looking at? And like I said earlier, I never had this issue before (done fresh emby installs a few times before)
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Will have to find other topics but People are a different story when it comes to refreshing metadata and are only gotten on first import of item if I remember correctly. So Refreshing a library will not refresh all People/Actors. 1 1
Luke 42077 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 Hi, we’ll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting. 1 1
