CMJR23 8 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Hi Luke, I just installed 4.8.1.0 on my M2 Mac Mini running Sonoma. Runs fine except that it does not hardware transcode (no green hw transcode icon). I have Emby Premiere and have enabled "Hardware Acceleration" in Transcoding. When is it likely that hardware transcoding for Apple Silicon will be supported in Emby? Plex already supports it but my preference is to use Emby. Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Hi there, can you please provide an ffmpeg log example? Thanks.
CMJR23 8 Posted February 25, 2024 Author Posted February 25, 2024 Hi Luke, Thanks for the quick reply. I've attached the ffmpeg log example below. It was interesting and impressive that it was still able to software transcode 2 x 4K streams without buffering. ffmpeg-transcode-c4b861f5-37ed-4fc4-a711-a4bab18b3df5_1.txt
Luke 42077 Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 OK thanks for reporting. We'll take a look.
100Tomer 10 Posted April 1, 2024 Posted April 1, 2024 @Lukedoes this mean Hardware Acceleration support to work in 4.8? If so there’s maybe a tutorial ?
Quincarter 0 Posted April 6, 2024 Posted April 6, 2024 @LukeI too would like a tutorial if this is possible on the bare metal version of emby server on Mac. Also wondering how to do this in the emby docker container or the Linuxserver.io docker container on my m2 Mac mini.
