Chiefmas 40 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Is there a way to change what is displayed in the browser tab when on the "Home" section of a server? Mine is displaying...well I think it's the name of the server I had it installed on a couple hardware refreshes ago. It's not the netbios name of the server currently, nor is it the server's "Display Name". It's written into multiple meta tags in the head section of the page...but it's not clear to me where it's getting it from. These are the 4 tags that seem to have it (I'd rather mine say something less generic then "Media Server01". I'm glad I don't get "clever" with my machine names these days. <meta name="description" content="Media Server01"> <meta name="application-name" content="Media Server01"> <meta property="og:title" content="Media Server01"> <meta property="og:site_name" content="Media Server01">
Happy2Play 9782 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 All those fields update when I change/provide as server name via dashboard. But usually requires a page refresh to update the tab.
Lessaj 467 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 (edited) That should be how it works but I seem to get some strange behaviour. If I change the display name to "test" it updates in the tab title, but when I change it to, for example "emby.my.domain" instead it says "Media Server.my.domain". If I set "test.my.domain" that works fine. I'm not sure where it's pulling "Media Server" from. EDIT: If I change it to just "Emby" it also changes to "Media Server" so this substitution seems to be happening on that word, but I don't know where it's coming from. Yes that has something to do with Google deceptive site issue so may have a keyword issues but honestly have not looked into is but mention in another resent topic. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/126462-change-webpage-name-to-match-server-name https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/123444-48060-problem-with-browser-tab-naming/
Lessaj 467 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 That explains it, all good. Never really bothered me enough to look into it.

I didn't think to try changing the server name, I thought that wasn't it because it hasn't matched in a very long time. Like through multiple updates/reboots etc. I just now thought to ask about it. But when I changed the server name again, it did update on a refresh. Thanks! 1
