BigBillSD 1 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 (edited) I was surprised to get this again. As I am finished testing Emby till the mish mash thingy is created I wanted to remove it. But this occurred again when running the uninstaller from Windows Settings, Apps. I imagine the Emby Theater will give me the same issue. Is there a way to remove this without making a project out of this. This PC was a clean install of windows 11 prior to installing Emby. (reset, wipe all files reinstall) -Bill Edited February 20, 2024 by BigBillSD
pwhodges 2012 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 For the server just delete the directory %appdata%\Roaming\Emby-Server with all its contents - Emby doesn't put anything anywhere else (unless you specify some data directories explicitly). Emby Theatre is technically very different, and the appstore and download versions are different from each other. For all I know they will uninstall cleanly. Paul
Neminem 1518 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 You could also try this program. Never tried it though. 1
pwhodges 2012 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 I would stay away from any program advertised like that, myself. Paul 1

Paul Same issue with Theater.. both downloaded directly from Emby. The directories are deleted but both entries are still there in Apps > Installed Apps. And running a powershell script to enumerate the installed apps does not show either of them, but of course they still show in the Installed App Gui after a reboot. UGH.
BigBillSD 1 Posted February 20, 2024 Author Posted February 20, 2024 Oh, I looked at that video. I have used revo uninstaller and its a tool in my portable apps group. It works well. I hate installing stuff like that so I just use the this companys stuff. I have been using it since disk space was very expensive... https://portableapps.com 1
BigBillSD 1 Posted February 20, 2024 Author Posted February 20, 2024 (edited) I uninstalled Emby Theater on my PC (not the DVR PC) and had the same issue as I did on the DVR pc. The Windows App still showed it was installed after it finished, including after a reboot. I ran my portable version of Revo and it sure left a lot of registry entries. Yikes. Luke 42077 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Quote I uninstalled Emby Theater on my PC hi, this will be a non-issue in the near future because we have a new windows app coming that you'll install via the windows store and it will handle this part for us.

Oh, the first thing I do with a new windows pc is to run a power shell script to remove all the bloatware (aka Attack Surfaces) they shove in there, one of them is the windows store..
booboos 5 Posted August 4, 2025 Posted August 4, 2025 Lol. Trying to find a fix for this and this is the only comment on it.

What do you mean by near future? 18 months since you wrote this, and I still have Emby in my list of apps after trying everything trying to get rid of it

booboos 5 Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Actually there's quite a few people still have this issue on the other threads. And you know what the reply is every time? 'Thanks we'll take a look'. They never did take a look, and it was never resolved. I presume people just put up with it.

Hi, we released a new windows app, and it will not happen with the new app.
