Thumbnail image extraction always running for hours

Version 4.8.1.0

I have my scheduled task setup to perform  Thumbnail image extraction on server startup because I have a script that once a week shuts down Emby and performs a number of tasks, reboot windows if there's pending updates and so on.

I also have my libraries set to scan for thumbnails as a scheduled task and when media is added.

Now since a couple of versions back every time embyserver starts it extacts thumbnails for hours, even shows that have been there for years.

Is this to be expected? A couple of months back the thumbnail creation went by super quick since everything should be already created.

Here's an extract of the log file:

Hi, please attach the complete log file.

But it’s normal that the scheduled task will go back and try to create them for everything, even older content.

Okay, I restarted the server a couple of times yesterday and the thumbnail extraction finished within a second so I guess it's a hit and miss when it does run a full scan.

I know for sure that when it performs the weekly restart it runs the exraction.

If you say it's normal I'm good with that, it only takes a few hours and really doesn't impact the performance that much.

It's not expected to re-extract for videos that already have thumbnails, just to clear that up.
