Nzzer0 5 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 In the "help" (here https://emby.media/support/articles/Collections.html ) it says that when you "long press on the first poster" you get a dialog to multi-add items to a collection. But theres no such thing as a long-press on a desktop, so I cant find any way to get to this screen. Its essential, because adding items to collctions individually (several clicks each) is so labourious as to make collections useless ... So has this screen been removed, and if not, how can I get to it?
Lessaj 467 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 (edited) On desktop when you mouse over an item there's a circle in the top left which you can click to start multi select. Shift+click to select a range also works once in this mode. Edited February 18, 2024 by Lessaj 2
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Since you have already enabled multi-select on first card, click the three dot menu at the top right of screen. 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Sorry you copied image from documention. Desktop you hover over left corner to select Or click three dot menu on card But there are device and different view variables.
Nzzer0 5 Posted February 18, 2024 Author Posted February 18, 2024 awesome thanks, worked it out. they really should have it as a menu item somewhere (redundancy for ease of use and all that)

But depends on if you are talking about one item or many items. multi-select/multi-select menu (shown above) item card menu enter item and click menu 1
Nzzer0 5 Posted February 20, 2024 Author Posted February 20, 2024 those are singele add, I meant multi-add. the only way to enable multi-add is via the top left of the thumbnail, its not on any text menus anywhere and really should be (good UI design and all that) 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 True but that depends on your display as desktop mode you will see hover option where touch screen/tv/mobile will have different options.

Nzzer0 5 Posted February 20, 2024 Author Posted February 20, 2024 (edited) Speed for UI is one goal, but learnability and mental model are also important. Most UIs try and allow for both. Edited February 20, 2024 by Nzzer0
Luke 42078 Posted February 20, 2024 Posted February 20, 2024 OK we currently only show the multi-select menu option on touch input, but I guess we can show it all the time.
Nzzer0 5 Posted February 20, 2024 Author Posted February 20, 2024 cool. dunno what it looks like, but that might help learnability, yeah. (not for me of course, I know it now)
