After emby scanned the file, the video was renamed

operating system

Windows 10 IoT  LTSC

emby version

Version 4.8.1.0

Brief description of problem

After emby scanned the file, it was renamed.

Specific description

After creating a new library in Libraries and selecting Music videos as the Content Type, the file name displayed in the scanned video file will be renamed. However, I do not need to rename the scanned video file. I just want to keep the original one.

solution

Want to add an option to let the user choose whether to rename the video file according to a certain rule, or stop renaming the file name and use the original file name, which is a problem in this version, previously it was displayed by the file name.

When I select Home videos & photos, the video file name is scanned as the original file name20240217164526.png.ec50e9730ae86b135fbfa585e8d2c2f0.png20240217164615.thumb.png.7669e048a403959f2feb346c444f4688.png

Looking forward to the next major version update, there is an option, after the user selects the music video option, whether to choose the option of forcing the server to rename, let the user decide whether to use the server name, or directly use the original name of the file, mainly I am more casual, using the original name of the file is fully sufficient.

In short, we still want to let users have a variety of choices, that is, let users decide whether to rename the video by Emby, rather than directly let the server to the video file display name change, which is more convenient.

Hi.  If you don't want to attempt metadata retrieval, just disable all the metadata providers in library setup.

My problem has been solved, change the Content type to avoid scraping metadata.

And, just through the experiment found that it is indeed the automatic scraping network metadata caused by renaming. But when I import a video into a Music video, the metadata is still automatically scraped, and it seems that even if I turn off all metadata related options, it will still appear.

Because Emby needs to generate,*.nfo,*.bif,poster.jpg. If a user is using Music Videos, Emby can automatically generate all three files and disable scraping metadata.

Of course, users can also try to use other Content types to avoid scraping and rename video files.

So, let's document this method here so that users who don't need to scrape metadata have a reference

Hi, Emby doesn't need to do these things. It only does them if you enable them in the library options.
