Hi @quickmic, I did additional tests now. Well native modus has an excellent performance, but no album modus for music also my skin aeon nox does not shows anymore dynamic backround images. I suppose this is why native modius works totally independent from any kodi databases.

Well the addon modus does not work for me du to massive performance. I found out that dynamic modus has much better performance. Selecting movies only the initial selection takes 6 to 8 seconds which is far to long. After that it work like a dream, performance is pretty good. Same for TV series. When you select sync nodes the whole application gets totally in performant. Loading backround images and covers when scrolling through the library takes ages. Also when you com back, same behavior . It seems there is no chaching modus in syn nodes?!

Music section using album wall is not usable. Unfortunately in dynamic modus no album modus is available . Why? Using dynamic modus and artist as entry point work again pretty well. 

Am I right that the addon modus works based in http requests? I played around with then in Kodi 21 new chaching modus , to be find under system setting / services. But this has no effect on the behaviour.

Well I wanted to set up a central media server set up with kodi as clients. But so I cann not use it. What a pitty. 

Question is , do other have similar problems? Where start to analyse? Ideas to improve the settings!

I installed kodi con. No performance issues here at at. No other settings changed. BUT: Music album view sorting does not work at all. My skin is not working anymore by showing random fanart.

No, the only difference is, how the playback is initiated. Native = direct file access, addon = http streams.

This is a Kodi issue, I don;t know why.

By this mode, Kodi is not aware of the content and Kodi is very little involved. Also telling me, Kodi performance issue.

As mentioned, the only differance is how playback is initiated.

Maybe you can send me a debug log including the slow queries.

Thanks @quickmicthanks for your support. I really like you addon and your work.

Very strange.

I should test with a total clean version, but in general my test environment is a copy of the production environment where kodi only setup is up and running very smooth.

Somewhere must be a difference otherwise I cannot explain the difference in meta data handling. I my test I always deleted the kodi music and video data base and removed all thumbs.

I will do additional test over the weekend and send the log.

Comment:

http redirects for websockets was never addressed in all versions since 4.X. This solves issues when using proxies etc.

Keep eyes on realtime syncs and let me know, if you experience any issues.

If no issues reported, this will be the next beta.

Hint:

if you use an apache proxy, increase the KeepAliveTimeout to 60 seconds. -> /etc/apache2/apache2.conf -> "KeepAliveTimeout 60".

It improves performance (re-using socket connections (http header parameter -> keep-alive)). The plugin "ping" intervals to Emby server are 10 seconds, but apache KeepAliveTimeout default is 5 seconds.

Nginx could be similar, but not reviewed.

i still haven't been able to get the Services plug-in to work...after install Kodi locks up immediately...after a restart, Kodi locks up immediately at the welcome screen

Workaround: disable the old plugins (maybe restart Kodi at this point), update all plugins and re-enable the plugins.

The issue is related to the old plugins (they do not stop properly) and Kodi has a bug. It should kill them after 5 seconds.

btw, when I push this release to Emby-Kodi's repo, it should be fixed, cause the install order will be different. At least I hope so, needs to be tested.

thanks, the workaround allowed me to install the latest test version without problems

but new issue, after i Enable Enhanced Artwork to allow my Cover Art plug-in to work, when i start up Kodi i can't properly log-in/connect to the Emby Server.  I get an error message in Kodi saying  "Access to Emby is Restricted"

Re-login to emby server: Kodi: addons -> Services -> Emby for Kodi next gen -> manager servers -> add server

btw, I'm thinking about a forced factory reset on next version (or at least when it be tagged as stable) even the database is compatible. Seems such update issues are too much and a reset would fix the problems in the first place.

Windows 10 user here, been using kodi v19 with plugin v7x for a long time without issue. updated kodi to v21 and plugin to v10x and havent gotten it to work successfully. i can access all network shares from windows just fine and inside kodi just fine. ive attached log below. what i see is error 500 but not sure what that actually means.

Perform a factory reset, there is something seriously wrong.

500 means Emby server -> https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/500

btw, Kodi 19 to 21 and plugin from 7 to 10 is like updating Windows 95 to Windows 10

i forgot to mention i have performed reset few times, selected different emby entries, and also uninstall plugin completely and reinstall. i installed new one you posted today aswell. with and without additional support (music images and video)

Try a fresh Kodi setup as a test. This doesn't mean, (only) uninstall Kodi. You must remove ALL Kodi userdata (manually)! Use a laptop for debug.

No, release notes for v9 states for Kodi 20 only.

@quickmicI missed the 10.0.26 update. I upgraded from 10.0.25 to 10.0.27. I did a local database reset after the update. Unfortunately, no media would play. I rolled back to 10.0.26. Media playback still would not start. I rolled back to 10.0.25. That resolved the issue.

The attached logs are from playback attempts after the upgrade from 10.0.25 to 10.0.27.

Sounds like Kodi just stopped the playback.

Quite surprised, this should happen on .26/.27. Kodi has playback control at this point, also the emby server log shows, Kodi requested the stream (actually only a HEAD request).

Are you sure this started with .26/.27, makes no sense to me at the moment.

I need a debug log for review.

Just some feedback that the communication rewrite seems to have eliminated the crashing between episodes when "Play From Here" is used.  Everything is much faster as well.  Amazing work, thank you!

@quickmicYes. I am sure it started with .26/.27. I just reinstalled .26, and playback stopped working. I reinstalled .27, and it was the same. I rolled back to .25, and playback worked again.
