I think there's a bug in your synced node views for mixed media libraries.  It looks like you add tags to Kodi for the library name, but when you pass the library name into the views such as  get_next_episodesIds(self, TagName) the TagName you pass is "{Library Name} (tvshows)" not just "{Library Name}" so the TagId lookup fails.

I'm talking about the auto generated views in what I think Kodi calls browse, there area you get to if you select ".." a couples times from TV Shows in the default skin and from there select EMBY: {Library Name} (tvshows) then select a view like "Next Episodes.

I suppose even in the that view the bug is present as I see Emby: {Library Name} (tvshows) (tvshows) so the tvshows part is present twice and the first one is getting taken as part of the library name.

I had the same issue.
I uninstalled every plugin associated with Emby, then reinstalled 10.0.25 etc in the order previously mentioned.
Success!

PS. Fortunately I was able to restore Windows to an earlier backup so I could easily uninstall the emby plugins.

I did find a complex workaround for a system where I didn't have a windows backup to rollback to... There's probably an easier solution...
- Delete all emby plugin directories from "C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\addons"
- Install both 10.0.1 (image/audio) plugins
- Install the video 10.0.24 plugin
- Reload Kodi
- Factory reset Emby
- Uninstall all emby plugins 
- Install 10.0.25 in the order previously mentioned.

FYI, On my end, all went well with upgrade to 10.0.25, was on 10.0.23, did upgrade first to 10.0.24.

Running latest Kodi on AndroidTV.

After a reboot of the TV (to make sure all is clean) I did followed the steps to upgrade to 10.0.25.

All good after and no issues yet!

Enable smb3 on your Shield by checking "Transfer files over local network" under Settings...Device

Then you should be able to browse your Shield by IP or hostname from Windows, etc.

Full path will look like the below example:

@quickmicSomewhere in this thread you mentioned you stopped support for server 4.7.xxx and moving forward it only supports 4.8.  Can you peel off maybe to a separate thread of link the recommended last versions for 4.7?  I am having trouble getting the combination of files working and it keeps crashing.  I am in the process of standing up a second emby 4.8 to compare and capture logs for my transcoding issues, but need to stay on 4.7 for the time being.  I have 3 kodi 18.9 running as expected, but the one that I upgraded to Omega 23 has done nothing but given my problems so I decided to a full factory reset on that shield.  Now I can get the right combination of embyforkodi-next gen files.  I think it was:

Currently, I'm rewriting the complete http communication on low level basis. Socket only, not more urllib3 or any other dependencies. This will fix all the shutdown issues for future versions. Unfortunately, the update procedure hangs by the "old" versions (when disabled) which are still based urllib3.

@quickmicI really do not need you help me trouble shoot via logs.  If you have version control, if you could let us know what was the last plugins supported for server 4.7, that would be very helpful.  I hate to waste your time troubleshooting 4.7 issues as they all belong to me to do.  I just want to get back to a stable state with Omega 23, and I think it was 10.0.0.22???  You keep changing everything on the page one of this thread which I understand, but version control is out of control.

I hope you do not take offense, as that is not intended whatsoever.  Nothing is synching even when restoring to a backup.  None of my libraries are show up, but again, I do not want to waste your time.  Just need to know the last support files for server 4.7 and will keep banging at it.

The last tested version was 9.X but it doesn't support Kodi 21.X

10.0.22 should work (but never tested with Emby 4.7). You need to send me a kodi.log for review. However, why are not updating you Emby server? Stable is 4.8

With 4.8, everything has reverted to software transcoding. I have no idea why.  Settings are identical.  My system was running fine, on 10.0.22, but something happend I was getting double listings in every library, so I reset the database and now it doesn't even see all my libaries.  I am still investigating.  Everytime I try to install 10.0.22, Kodi crashes.  !0.0.24 shows up, but installing it, doesn't show all of my libraries to sync, missing pretty much everything.  The offical 9.4.2.1 also doesn't see all my libraries.  Only a single "library'

When i turn on in section interface the point "Show options in plugin menu", is this not working.I go on the "main home screen" to the point "Addons", no matter  what lower category i select, Video addons, Music-addons or Picture-addons, when i go inside und want... for example manage libraries, then nothing happens.

Kodi 21.0 final with Coreelec on Odroid N2, tested with Skins Aeon MQ8 and standard Estuary.

It was a clean install, e4k i have installed first, other addons only AeonMQ8, Youtube, script.light.imdb.ratings.update and Artwork Organizer.

Hi all,

I want to realize a central media server using emby and kodi as player. I have an Nvidia Shield and two Fire Sticks 4 k. The fire TV sticks have limited storage. The idea is now to have all the media meta data stored on a central environment and using Kodi just as a player.

I did my first tests with now with the plugin but I did not understand how it should work?! I run emby server on a raspberry PI. All media meta data is stored on the raspberry. For movies and series all media was scraped and stored on the raspberry by activating the option that media is stored on the server. So far so good. In the emby app and via web browser everything is fine and meta data is loaded immediately.  

In kodi everything is getting complicated. First there a tons of options. After some time i could access to the server. but the worse thing is that many meta dat pictures like covers and backgrounds are not displayed. I would expect that they are loaded from my central server?!

Ho to configure this? Is there a guide available?

Use Kodi settings "Basic" or "Standard" (default) and you will see, there are only very low options to adjust.

In "Advanced" or "Expert" mode, yes, there are lot's of options.

Usually the basic settings are what you need and actually, the default settings are quite good for all setups.

Backgrounds (Fanarts in Kodi terms, Backdrops in Emby's terms) depends on skin you use. Not sure if the default Kodi skin shows "backgrounds".

complicated question.

I had to change the folder of my emby mov library. now in emby and kodi all is perfect again.

but now backups are 7 gig not 3.5 anymore. possible that I still have the old lib in kodi somewhere without seeing it? 

I then thought reseting database is a good idea but that was wrong somehow. movie lib and corresponding skin settings were gone. only tv was there. 

besides the backup size all is good now. should I reset something? nodes? cache?

bonus question, is cache all metadata somewhere explained? I started it without any clue but it was so slow I stopped

Comment:

http rewrite is a major change (under the hood).
All communication timeout issues should be fixed e.g. failed syncs when long running tasks are interrupted (Kodi shutdown)
Query (priority) orders are improved as well as image loading.
Less overhead and removal of external library urllib3 dependency
HTTP Emby server redirects are not supported (yet). Let me know if this causes any problems.

Reconnect to Emby server might be required, but no database reset.
