It would be great if we could force the server to execute HDR tone mapping...

I'll check that, but will not make it to 10.0.X.

At the moment I'm just fixing bugs to publish a new stable version.

I'll put it on the list for followup versions. 10.1.X

So my customizing goes on and on... :)

is it possible that I cannot activate the checkbox 'use video tags' with this emby connect? it's always dechecked after a min

I thought these video tags are the only way for me to have the media info like dts x in kodi. they are now in emby I've used this add on here and the info is saved in tags.

many thanks for feedback in advance!

Yes "'use video tags" is disabled in addon mode for a good reason.

You don't need that Kodi option. It would extract metadata information directly from files. It's used for Kodi scrapers which are not in use by the plugin.

Also it's kind of slow. Every file would be "opened" and analyzed. Also I think you addressing the ac3, atmos etc tags. They are not coming from the files metadata. They are "extracted" from streams. The Kodi option for that would be "Extract video information from files" which are also disabled.

https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Videos

The metadata info (and stream info) from files are read by Emby server and synced by plugin into Kodi's database. All information are there (in Kodi) after sync. How it's shown (or not at all) depends on Kodi's skin. I think the default skin (estuary) doesn't show any of this stream tag information. Some skins/skin helpers also read info from the filesnames which is also supported by the plugin (even in addon mode).

The only option enabled (of those three) should be "Extract chapter thumbnails" for reasons I explained in the FAQ, section "Path substitution".

use video tags -> off

Extract video information from files -> off

Extract chapter thumbnails -> on (but can be manually disabled, which I don't recommend)

The stream selection (direct play/no transcoding) is native a Kodi function.

Hey, we're trying to use WatchTogether with version 10.0.18. However, we're encountering the following issue: the client always fast-forwards by 40 seconds. Sync starts fine, but after pressing pause, the client fast-forwards by 40 seconds. When we switch films, the client's film also jumps directly to 40 seconds, while for the host, the film starts at zero. Any ideas?

I hope "client" and "host" are the correct terms here.

Did you check with 10.0.23? Does the issue still exists?

oh my, many thanks. So much to learn for me. I will try to understand it, and customize accordingly :)

info, my understanding

I have many info in kodi already, like dolby true HD.

but I have the atmos and dtsx info in emby since yesterday with the plug in, it was not there before. also visible now is for example bit rate of audio track, or dv profile 7, like in the screenshot. all new. not possible in emby standard.

these info are maintained in tags by that add on, im a bit sure :) because everyone was telling me and in emby I can now filter for the tags to see example all dv 7 movies in a poster wall...

I'm not scraping anything with kodi, my libs are now perfect with emby management.

I think thumbnails for chapter are on but honestly I've used an chapter for anything not sure I need that. but if it has some relevance here I leave it on of course...

I'm using arctic zephire reloaded. it was recommended and it looks nice. that skin should be able to show tags, but maybe as text, I don't think there are these icons for atmos or dtsx like I have for dolby true HD..

but as I cannot check that tag option anyway, and you write I shouldn't, I will probably never now :)

you mean one in emby lib and rescan library? without getting the new add on jumping in?

my naming is managed by emby, movie name (year). it will be renamed directly?

and extract info from files is anyway not checked as you wrote above :)

I've found that text in a nfo file from a movie that now is showing me that info in emby. these are tags? and the filter in 'tags' I have here in emby is def new since yesterday (own icons) ..

in kodi I also saw that checking tags is not recommend because scraping will fail, as you said.

so conclusion for now, it seems not possible to have these tags available in kodi.

that's somehow funny I waited years to have the info in emby and now I have them but have to use kodi for the player :)

Hold on, you mean Emby tags? I thought you meant the Kodi skin tags which are completely different case.

yep emby movie Tags.

I finally now have atmos and dts x etc information available in emby. or dv profiles. thanks to the add on. these info are missing without the add on.

I see the tags and info in emby. I can work with the tags for filter dtsx movies for example.

I cannot see the info kodi. not as tags, not as icons, not as info, not as text not as whatever...

a movie in kodi is still true HD, even if the movie is atmos true HD

Found a new issue that seems to have shown up since Kodi v21.
Please keep in mind that everything is local LAN and no outside Internet usage.

I use a reverse proxy (Nginx Proxy Manger) in internally in my environment to add friendly names without needing to know port information and more easily enforce SSL.
Note this works outside Emby directly in the web app through a web browser without issue. I can login fine.

After upgrading Emby-Next-Gen 10.0.18 I reset Kodi and Emby with a factory reset.

Upon the server dialog I type in my server and proceed without issue.

2024-05-16 00:31:23.071 T:12233   debug <general>: EMBY.emby.http: [ http ] {'type': 'GET', 'url': 'http://emby.i.server.net:/emby/system/info/public'}

However upon authentication I get failures.

2024-05-16 00:32:51.537 T:12233    info <general>: EMBY.emby.emby: Login to server
2024-05-16 00:32:51.537 T:12233   debug <general>: EMBY.emby.http: [ http ] {'type': 'POST', 'url': 'http://emby.i.server.net:/emby/Users/AuthenticateByName', 'params': {'username': '<username_hidden>', 'pw': '<password_hidden>'}}

2024-05-16 00:32:51.547 T:12233   error <general>: EMBY.emby.http: [ Unknown ] Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)

As soon as I disable enforce SSL everything works. This use to work on previous versions without issue.
No combination of manually changing the URL address to https:\\emby.i.servername.net fixes the issue.
-----

Update #1. This only seems to affect the authentication dialog. I switched enforce SSL on again after authenticating and restarting force stopping and starting Kodi and all other requests seem to work.

I think the port is the issue (you didn't add anything at all, right?). "http://emby.i.server.net:/emby/Users/AuthenticateByName" is invalid, should be "http://emby.i.server.net:80/emby/Users/AuthenticateByName"

I assume you entered the server address -> manual login method?

I can add a workaround for an empty port using the defaults. 80/443

Does the login work when you add the port information?

Update procedure -> FAQ

Trakt, no. Let Emby server do that.

That is correct I did not add anything.

Testing adding ports:

  • Port 80 fetched the user list (just like with no port).
  • Port 443 did not work and did not fetch the user list.

Login does not work, even when specified port. Dialog box says invalid username / password.

Also worth mentioning that my username has underscores "_" in the name.

That's false information. The actual issue is this one:

2024-05-16 00:32:51.547 T:12233   error <general>: EMBY.emby.http: [ Unknown ] Expecting value: line 1 column 1 (char 0)

Seems there is something wrong with your server response or the http query.

Can you send me a debug log (via PM) please.

Is your server accessible from internet? Does the issue appears there too?

Can you send me the URL of your server, then I could test the "handshake" myself.

Did you install the dependencies? Actually, you should  install via Emby's Kodi beta repository so the deps are auto installed.

No known limitations for FireTV.

You may meed to upload the log for review.
