No compatible streams - HEVC content

Hi all,

I'm having issues playing back any HEVC content via the Emby for Windows app (1.1.539) or in any internet browser. The same content plays perfectly fine on Emby for Samsung TV & in Infuse. I've attached transcode & server log files.

The server is running on a shared seedbox where I have no root access and hardware transcoding isn't a viable option.

Would greatly appreciate your help in getting this resolved :)

Thanks!

This indicates that you server can't handle transcoding of HEVC files.

Just looking at you transcode speeds, you server is under powered.

So you will need to finde out why windows will not play Hevc files.

Have you tried playing the file directly on your pc ?

Have you installed the HEVC on your pc ?

How to Install Free HEVC Codecs on Windows 10 (for H.265 Video) (howtogeek.com)

I haven't tried downloading and playing them on my computer; could give that a shot as well but I would strongly prefer to stream from the server - and am able to do so from the Samsung TV client and Infuse on iOS devices. I'm not able to play the HEVC files in Safari on my Mac either.

The file is stalled at 0:00 and continues to go back and forth between direct play and transcoding to H264 before finally showing no compatible streams and exiting. I'm confused why it's not able to direct play in browser on Mac or Windows and resorts to transcoding.

HEVC codecs on the Windows PC are installed and the problem persists.

Hi, try installing the hevc extension from the Microsoft store onto the windows device that is playing.

There are two versions of it already installed on that computer, but the problem persists.
-HEVC Video Extensions
-HEVC Video Extensions from Device Manufacturer

Just to follow up; I think the easiest solution will be to stick to 1080p/H264 releases. I was able to direct play some HEVC content on the Windows PC in Emby Theater today, but it isn't consistent. Most of my devices don't have 4K resolution anyways, so I'll just adjust on my end.

Thanks for y'all's help :)
