Does anyone know why that whenever I add new TV Shows to Emby, they don't show up in the latest tv shows on the home page? This started happening about 2 - 3 months ago.

Today I added two complete TV Series, Dexter and The winter King. Both of these show in TV Shows, but don't show in Latest TV Shows. User settings seem okay.
I'm sending the logs for today.

Exactly. Have you checked the date added value for the new episodes in the metadata editor?

Series and episodes show fine in library, but not in latest. Date is okay, in UK format i.e. dd/mm/yyyy, and this worked perfectly well previously.

@tisron13what do you mean by date is OK? That wasn't really what I asked. The latest lists are sorted based on the date added value of the episodes.

So to find the answer of why they may not be sorted the way you want, you have to look at the values in the metadata for those episodes and compare them to your other episodes.

Did you do that, and what did you find when you did?

date added value for the new episodes in the metadata editor is set to "Use date scanned into library". 

When adding TV shows, I add the complete series. All episodes have been created at the same time, and added at the same time, and show as that.

When I add those shows I drag them into file explorer in the Asustor NAS, thus copying them.

I am now trying 'cut & paste' directly to HDD via devices & drives on PC, and lo & behold this works. 

Why one method of transfer works and one doesn't is a mystery to me, but the problem seems to be sorted.

Right but this is the setting. This isn't the actual value. Did you look at the actual values and compare them to other episodes?

Hi, i am having the same issue. I added True Blood yesterday. All my latest tv shows / episodes for the past are ok but not that folder specifically.

If i go into the tv shows folder, it is there, no issue. 

I can play the files, find them in search, all seems good except the part of the lastest tv shows.

But Latest TV is about the last episode date added and your TV library is sorted by date added which is Show/Series level only so they appear correct to me.  So if you changed the library to Last Episode Date Added it would/should match Home screen row.

As on is about episode and the other is about Series.

I just did what you said, and now True Blood is in my 3rd last row of 230 shows. It doesnt even show up in my latest.

At least by Date Added, i had it at the top of my library.

They are two totally different methods and Home Screen Latest row is about Latest episode in the Series.  So for True Blood to be first it would have to have the newest last episode added.

That's what i said, it was added yesterday evening. After that i got sweet tooth and 1 episode of Evil. So technically it should be there at 3 place in the latest. But that's not what's happening...

You have to compare the dated added value for the last episode within a Show.  But technically it can be any episode with an Show with latest episode added date.

You can not look as date added as that only applies to the Show.

Along with date added behavior you have enabled (file creation date or scan date).

I'm trying to understand here. I downloaded a file yesterday, 40GB. That file is 80 episodes which none of them appears on the Latest Shows. 

This his happening on 2 different Emby servers, located at 2 different physical place.

Whatever i add goes to Latest TV Shows.

It has been working like that for over 3 years no issues.

So suddenly, i am downloading a show and now i need to change whatever i don't understand. When i go into my library, i put them by Date Added so i can have the newest first.

If the show came out in 2014 and the last episode was in 2015, i want this show to be the last one added to the library because..That's what i did.

So enlight me up because i don't understand your explanation at all. 

I just want my show to be in order of Date Added, and that show to be in the Latest Tv Show. Like it has been for years.

Nothing has changed here from Emby beginning in reference to TV show.

So what is your date added behavior as file created in 2015 can't be new only unless you have modified their creation date.

Or files using Scan date can be new.

Unless you have a platform that is defective in reading proper file dates.

Date Added has never looked at episode so Home Screen has never sorted by it it has always been last episode added.

So without knowing your added setting and every episode added date for True Blood it is impossible to say.  But will guess you are using file creation and the files are not new.

I am using file creation Date. 

Everything else is working just fine except for that specific show. I am trying to figure out how to fix this. On 230 tv shows, only 1 does that on 2 different Emby servers so this may not be a coincidence.

It appears within the library, all episodes are there, i can watch the show, i can search for it and find it.

It just doesn't appear on Latest TV Shows. 

I moved the folder to a different shared folder, rescan library, it doesn't show anymore. Moved it back to the original, scan again, it shows it the library but not under latest.

So there's something that Emby doesn't pick up about the show. 
Name wise

/series/True Blood/S02/True.Blood.S02E01.Nichts.als.Blut.German.DL.AAC.BDRip.x264-oWn.mkv

Beside wiping the entire library and rescan again, i have no clue. But i don't wanna lose all my history.

Well a currently airing show will have a new file creation date and something from 2015 will not.

If you want new when you add you have to change from file creation to Scan date.  Or modify every episode original creation date to now before importing.

 

Or go to last episode and change the date added and the Series will more.

I downloaded Westworld, last episodes was 2 years ago and it shows in my Latest Tv Shows

I downloaded Barbarians, last episodes was 2 years ago and it shows in my Latest Tv Shows

I downloaded Dark, last episodes was 4 years ago and it shows in my Latest Tv Shows

True Blood aired few years ago but still the creation date was 24hours ago. Like the above shows i mentionned and i have more of them. Basically whatever i download goes into Latest TV Shows.
