Ruku's media player can't play AVI video files.

Does anyone know how I can get my ruku box to read AVI video files from a USB flash drive?  Ruku's player can't seem to read a very commonly used  AVI video files. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi.  AVI is a very old format and the Roku player does not support it because no streaming media would ever be delivered in it.

However, Emby and our Roku app will convert on the fly for you and play your AVI files properly.

Really? I downloaded the emby app.  Do you know where I can instructions on how to convert the files?
